Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position contributes to the fulfillment of Thayer County Health Services vision and mission by maintains all properties owned by Thayer County Health Services.  The Maintenance Technician assists in all areas of maintenance to ensure a standard of excellence for the comfort and care of the patients and staff of TCHS.
 
SHIFT: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Days; with call rotation
SUPERVISION: Reports to the Facility Director
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:          
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certification preferred.
  • Basic Knowledge of plumbing, electrical HVAC, and general maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong attention to detail; especially regarding safety requirements.
  • Active State Motor Vehicle License required.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs all compliance tasks and accurately record required data as required.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facility systems, including pool areas (if applicable), ensuring proper chemical balance and safe operation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic computer skills to assist with documentation and communication.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities and completion of general work orders assigned, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care areas.
  • Support plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks under the direction of the Maintenance Engineer with general work orders.
  • Assist with exterior groundskeeping, including lawn care and landscape maintenance.
  • Support snow and ice removal to maintain safe access for patients, staff, and emergency services of TCHS properties.
  • Ensure full compliance with road and motor vehicle safety regulations and best practices when operating company vehicles in the course of maintenance duties.
  • Participate in special construction and improvement projects in compliance with regulations.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations, including on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Performs other Duties as assigned.

  • Complies with Federal and State requirements.
  • Maintains and promotes good health practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
  • Will be required to participate and complete the CORE Values program.
  • Will conform to TCHS policies and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with the requirements of Thayer County Health Services’ Compliance Program, including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Manual. All supporting policies for compliance and compliance plans.
  • Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by organizational policy and as requested by supervisor.
  • Maintains the TCHS Behavior Standards.
  • Demonstrates formal greetings with patients, visitor and TCHS staff.
  • Will perform all duties as described by the job description.
  • Does not discuss patient matters such outside of the clinical setting in; keeping in compliance of HIPAA.
  • Willingly accepts new responsibilities and cooperates with implementation of change.
  • Dresses in neat, clean professional attire according to Dress Policy; maintains high personal hygiene standards.
  • Maintains personal hygiene standards.
  • Demonstrates respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence through a “We Care” philosophy with all patients, visitors, and TCHS staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Exposure to different working environments, including normal office work places, patient care areas, and plant operations locations.
  • Exposure to different elements of weather, and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and biological materials.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable the senses to function adequately for the requirements of position to be fully met.
