Maintenance Technician

BASIC FUNCTION: Provides maintenance services to all Glenkirk sites, an agency supporting adult with development and intellectual disabilities.

SCOPE: Completes all work orders within assigned time frames. Able to identify current and potential maintenance needs, and initiate repair/replacement. Displays general knowledge in the areas of plumbing, electric, carpentry, and grounds-keeping. Ability to perform physical labor as necessary.

WORK PERFORMED

• Basic Plumbing: repair leaks or breaks, opens clogged lines or drains, replace appliances
• Basic Electric: repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances: repairs lighting systems
• Basic carpentry: repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, and furniture.
• Painting: prepares various surfaces for paint, enamel, varnish, or stain.
• Snow removal: minimal salting and light shoveling
• Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required
• Travels to various site to complete assignments.
• Maintain regular and consistent work attendance.
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent and any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described. Certification in specific trades, preferred (e.g. HVAC, plumbing, etc.).

Valid Illinois driver’s license and meet and maintain insurance guidelines to be an insured driver.

Physical requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs. independently and a minimum of 100 lbs. with assistance. Repetitive, heavy lifting, bending, twisting, carrying, climbing, using power tools, driving vehicles, operating heavy equipment required.

Training requirements: Anti-Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogens, Rule 50/OIG, and HIPAA regulations.
