A Maintenance Technician will repair, troubleshoot and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment and will assist in the evaluating and developing solutions to determine necessary modifications for existing and new equipment to improve the function of plant machinery.

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Conducts machine setup, trouble shooting, repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders for maintenance.
  • Enters data and maintenance of process records, work reports, and maintenance logs.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment.
  • Troubleshoots all electrical & mechanical issues on shift.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts (i.e. removing pumps, motors, filters, pipes).
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements or replacements.
  • Provide unscheduled repairs of equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Repairs and replaces electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Follows correct housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Documents performance of assigned maintenance technicians.
  • Assures all machines are appropriately guarded.
  • Abides by all safety programs and PPE.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ Years of experience performing maintenance on packaging machines/production as well as a basic knowledge of product flows
  • Must have the technical knowledge to repair and/or replace and troubleshoot machinery, instrumentation and hard-wired electrical devices in all areas of the plant.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Follow instructions, respond to management direction; and keep commitments
  • Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.
  • Mechanical aptitude to learn computer operation, software and languages and to perform general maintenance on all types of equipment.
  • Maintains basic knowledge of product flows.
  • Demonstrates attention to
  • Technical knowledge to repair and/or replace and troubleshoot machinery, instrumentation and hard-wired electrical devices in all areas of the plant.
  • Must have a strong electrical background with process equipment.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as: proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Education Requirements:

  • Associates degree in related field

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily sedentary standing work with occasional walking, lifting, moving, and traveling to other departments or work areas to perform repetitive manual tasks.
  • The position is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
