Maintenance & Production Lead Technician
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Maintenance & Production Lead Technician to support daily manufacturing operations in a fast-paced food production environment. This role is responsible for maintaining production equipment, overseeing maintenance activities, supporting production operations when maintenance is not required, and ensuring facility efficiency, safety, and sanitation standards are consistently met.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated “figure-it-out” type of person who can think outside the box, troubleshoot issues proactively, and step in wherever needed. Candidates with food manufacturing or blending experience are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems
  • Support production operations and work alongside the production team when maintenance work is not required
  • Create work schedules and post daily maintenance work assignments
  • Complete and oversee assigned daily maintenance tasks
  • Direct and prioritize workloads for maintenance staff
  • Oversee maintenance personnel working on the production floor
  • Proactively identify and address production, warehouse, and facility issues
  • Generate parts orders and maintain necessary maintenance inventory
  • Assign and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks
  • Conduct department and facility inspections
  • Respond proactively to general repair needs throughout the facility
  • Ensure equipment and facility cleanliness meet plant and sanitation standards
  • Work with touchscreen systems, recipes, and production processes when supporting operations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, sanitation, and production documentation
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Assist with additional projects and operational needs as assigned
Technical Knowledge & Skills
Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of mechanical operations and building maintenance, including:
  • Manufacturing equipment repair
  • HVAC systems
  • Welding and brazing
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Basic electrical systems and troubleshooting
  • Preventive maintenance procedures
  • General facility maintenance
Safety Responsibilities
Safety and food safety are critical components of this role. Employees are expected to:
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Understand and comply with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and sanitation standards
  • Report unsafe conditions, injuries, accidents, or food safety concerns immediately
  • Complete all required safety training, including:
    • Hazard Communication (HazCom)
    • Chemical Safety
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Confined Space
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT)
    • Ergonomics
BRC Responsibilities
  • Support BRC food safety and quality standards by maintaining sanitary work areas and following prescribed procedures
  • Report food safety concerns to the QA Manager and assist with corrective and preventive actions
  • Complete preventive maintenance activities and assigned food safety tasks
  • Follow all GMP and prerequisite program requirements
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, Trade School certification, or equivalent required
  • Certifications or experience in welding, brazing, plumbing, electrical, or related trades preferred
  • Prior food manufacturing or food blending experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to think independently and solve problems efficiently
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting
