CAN DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATION AND HVAC SYSTEMS—AND WANT VARIETY WITHOUT THE DAILY SERVICE ROUTE?

Bavarian Inn Restaurant is hiring a Refrigeration Focused Maintenance Technician to handle day-to-day repairs and preventive maintenance across our busy 90,000 square foot property — including 3 commercial kitchens, 12 dining rooms, full-scale production bakery, and six retail shops.

This role is ideal for someone who specializes in refrigeration systems (walk-in coolers, freezers, reach-ins, ice machines) while also being mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and confident assisting with a variety of other systems like plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and kitchen equipment. Our maintenance team takes pride in doing the job right – with quality craftsmanship, consistency, and a little good humor along the way.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position involves hands-on work across multiple systems and departments, often in time-sensitive or high-pressure situations. You’ll be responsible for identifying issues quickly, executing effective repairs, and maintaining a calm, solution-focused approach while doing it.

Tasks include routine maintenance, emergency repairs, and proactive troubleshooting of:

• Refrigeration Systems: Walk-in freezers, coolers, reach-ins, and ice machines (primary focus).
• Commercial Kitchen Equipment: Fryers, ovens, dishwashers, mixers.
• Plumbing: Grease traps, dish lines, water lines, valves, drains.
• Electrical: Lighting, outlets, panels, motors.
• HVAC: Boilers, air handlers, ventilation systems.
• Welding & Fabrication: Equipment frames, custom parts, repairs.

At this time, our team is seeking someone who brings strong commercial refrigeration skills to the table — especially troubleshooting and maintaining walk-ins, reach-ins, and freezer units.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of facility, industrial, or commercial refrigeration maintenance experience. (Commercial kitchen experience preferred.)
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred).
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing commercial refrigeration equipment.
• General working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to weld and fabricate basic components a plus.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Friendly and optimistic demeanor with the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
• Must be available for rotating shifts including weekends, and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires regular physical activity in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Team members in this role must be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
• Climb stairs and ladders, including accessing rooftops, attics, or equipment platforms.
• Lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Work in a variety of conditions including hot kitchens, refrigerated spaces, outdoor areas, and confined spaces.
• Kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach overhead to access and repair equipment.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and accurately.
• Maintain physical stamina while navigating a large multi-level facility.
