Maintenance Technician
Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is part of a team responsible for troubleshooting, disassembling, assessing, repairing, and testing the functionality of mechanical equipment used in the production of high precision glass products for the medical industry. The technician will perform mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical repairs and maintenance of equipment, along with monitoring, inspecting, and adjusting equipment when not in operational compliance. The Maintenance Technician will also suggest ideas for continuous improvement projects, while working with an Engineer and other Maintenance Technicians.
Along with focusing on equipment, the Maintenance Technician will also be responsible for performing maintenance on the facility when the scope of work falls within the expected skillset. This includes basic electrical & plumbing, ventilation maintenance, and more.
The ideal candidate is an ethical, hardworking self-starter with the ability to solve challenging problems with good judgement. This individual should require minimal supervision as part of the Engineering & Maintenance Team. This position reports to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager and will be assigned to the 2nd or 3rd shift, after a training period on 1st shift.

Duties/ Responsibilities
The essential functions of this position include, but not limited to:
  1. Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, understand classes of fit, along with being able to read blueprints.
  2. Setup machines and equipment for production runs to aid the production departments.
  3. Use basic hand and power tools to address issues with equipment and facilities.
  4. Utilize basic machine shop equipment to modify, fabricate, or repair parts of equipment.
  5. Installation and troubleshooting of the electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components of equipment.
  6. Communicate problems, root-cause, and corrective actions between shifts through end of day shift report and shift tie in.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized work area while working on equipment or facility.
  8. The ability to research solutions to problems by investigating relevant sources such as the internet, equipment manuals, and communicating with the manufacturer, or engineering.
  9. Perform Preventative Maintenance Tasks as assigned by the internal CMMS system.
  10. Other duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge/Skills
  1. Working knowledge of machine design and machine components, electrical diagrams, and components.
  2. Working knowledge of industrial electrical and manufacturing electronics.
  3. Working knowledge of controls systems, PLC’s, relay logic.
  4. Must be ethical, highly motivated and capable of self-direction.
  5. Excellent written and oral skills.
  6. Ability to establish priorities while being flexible to accommodate changes.
  7. Basic knowledge and experience with common machine shop equipment is a plus.
  8. Welding experience (MIG/TIG/Plasma Cutting) is a plus.
  9. Lifting, pushing, pulling, moving of equipment up to 60 lbs. is required along with needing to sit, squat, kneel, for an extended period.
  10. PIT/PIV License is a plus but not required.

Education
Associates Degree or Certification in a Maintenance related field.
Additional courses related to the engineering fields are a plus.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years experience in Maintenance or a Mechanic related field; references are required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing related position is preferred; references are a plus.
Applicable certifications in manufacturing and maintenance related fields are preferred.
