Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment with an emphasis on PLC-controlled systems. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment, including diagnosing hardware and software issues.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system failures.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, HMIs, VFDs, and servo systems.
  • Support production by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime.
  • Program modifications and troubleshoot PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar platforms.
  • Calibrate and maintain instrumentation and automated control systems.
  • Install, test, and commission new equipment and production lines.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), OSHA regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement projects to increase productivity and reduce equipment failures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting skills; ability to identify faults and make minor program modifications is preferred.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other industrial PLC platforms.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems up to 480V, motor controls, VFDs, and industrial automation.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS software.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
