Maintenance Technician

Location: Savannah, GA

Onsite Flexibility: Onsite

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 5 months (with potential for extension and conversion to permanent)
  • Pay Rate: $24.00 $25.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Swing shift Sun/Mon 11:00 PM 7:30 AM; off Tue/Wed; Thu/Fri/Sat 3:00 PM 11:30 PM
  • Overtime: Overtime expected
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician performs general preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds. Working under close supervision, the technician assists in monitoring building system operations and performance, and utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling. The facility is a Data Center located on the same property as an airport, and some traveling between sites is required the candidate will drive a company vehicle. Work is mostly independent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance; completes maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Reviews assigned work orders; estimates time and materials needed to complete repair; orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
  • Assists with installation and modification of building equipment systems.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include: plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, and HVAC.
  • Inspects new installation for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Maintains lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps.
  • Maintains grounds of facility or property performing such tasks as raking, sweeping, leaf blowing, or snow removal.
  • Performs welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith tasks as needed.
  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Performs rounds to ensure all daily operations.
  • Processes quick response work orders.
  • Performs HVAC preventive maintenance.
  • Performs electrical preventive maintenance.
  • Manages inventory.
  • Maintains and runs generators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Mechanical skills
  • General carpentry
  • Good understanding of safety regulations and processes
  • Good communication skills ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor
  • Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages
  • Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations; ability to solve problems in standard situations; requires basic analytical skills
  • Tablet experience
  • CMMS experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Uses personal computer and/or PDA for work order system, email, ESS, and training; basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook
  • Valid driver's license (may be required)
  • Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those affected by your work, including: completing all required and assigned HSE training at a satisfactory level; following all activity policies and procedures, including all HSE-related requirements at all times; participating in all HSE-related programs and activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing and assessment; reporting any conditions which could result in an accident or injury and/or stopping work if required
  • Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines

Preferred Skills

  • HVAC experience
  • Electrical experience

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Trade school is a plus
  • Any applicable HVAC licenses are a big plus
  • Valid driver's license may be required

Required Experience

  • 3 years of related experience
  • Minimum of one year of related experience and/or training (per formal qualifications)

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more
  • Some traveling between sites candidate will drive a company vehicle
  • Facility is a Data Center located on the same property as an airport
  • Mostly independent work environment
  • Background check required: CBRE Safety Specific with drug screen and MVR; once cleared, a redacted version of the background screen and drug screen must be sent to the client

  • Interview process: 1st round virtual (Teams); 2nd round in-person
  • Position is backfilling an open role
  • This position has potential to convert to a permanent (FTE) role
