Maintenance Technician

Location: Shelby Township, MI
Employment Type: Contract | Hours: Full-Time, Mon–Fri

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations across warehouse and manufacturing facilities. In this hands-on role, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot facility issues, and support building infrastructure to ensure operational readiness. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated maintenance professional who enjoys problem-solving in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general facility maintenance, including lighting repairs, minor electrical work, plumbing repairs, and basic building repairs
  • Support preventative maintenance activities for facility systems and operational equipment
  • Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems, including reading ladder logic and supporting automation and secondary operations equipment
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and proactively identify maintenance or safety concerns
  • Maintain warehouse infrastructure including racking systems, workstations, office setups, and facility layout modifications
  • Assist with installation and relocation of fixtures, shelving, desks, and equipment
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance services
  • Respond to daily maintenance requests and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain organized maintenance documentation and communicate completed work as needed
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and safety procedures
  • Support overall facility appearance and operational efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2–5 years of facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or industrial maintenance experience
  • Experience working in warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environments preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and building systems
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC systems and reading ladder logic
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks including climbing, bending, squatting, and reaching
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing or warehouse equipment
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and facility management systems
  • OSHA or safety-related training certifications
  • Experience coordinating with external maintenance vendors and contractors
