Van-Am Tool & Engineering is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support advanced maintenance operations across our two St. Joseph manufacturing facilities. This is a high-impact maintenance role responsible for troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment serving the aerospace and defense industries. This position offers competitive pay ranging from $30–$35 per hour based on maintenance experience, technical skill level, and overall manufacturing background. Van-Am also offers a 4-day workweek and a competitive benefits package that includes 401(k), health insurance, paid time off, and additional employee benefits.

This position is ideal for a skilled maintenance professional who can work independently, diagnose complex equipment issues, and help drive manufacturing uptime and operational performance. The Maintenance Technician will support stamping presses, CNC equipment, fabrication equipment, robotic weld cells, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and facility infrastructure while partnering with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to improve manufacturing efficiency and reliability.

Key responsibilities include performing daily maintenance and repair, leading preventive maintenance activities, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, responding to equipment breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing operation. This maintenance position also supports facility maintenance including HVAC systems, compressed air systems, lighting, plumbing, and general building infrastructure.

Qualified candidates should have at least 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment with strong industrial maintenance troubleshooting skills. Experience with metal manufacturing, fabrication equipment, CNC machinery, robotic welding systems, and preventive maintenance programs is strongly preferred. Candidates with electrical maintenance experience, the ability to read schematics and blueprints, and experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations will stand out.

The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically strong, safety-focused, and capable of handling multiple maintenance priorities with minimal supervision in a demanding manufacturing environment. This role may require occasional overtime, off-shift work, or emergency maintenance response to support manufacturing operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing preferred
  • Strong electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical maintenance skills
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial manufacturing equipment and robotic weld cells
  • Preventive maintenance and equipment reliability experience required
