Maintenance Technician

The Jefferson Metropolitan Housing Authority (JMHA) is seeking a dependable and skilled full-time Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance work at various properties in and around Steubenville, Ohio.

This role is responsible for ensuring that buildings and facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in general maintenance trades and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs
• Maintain buildings and grounds, including basic landscaping and exterior upkeep
• Install, repair, and service appliances and basic building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
• Respond to work orders and maintenance requests promptly, prioritizing based on urgency
• Troubleshoot issues and perform preventative maintenance
• Assist with unit turnovers, inspections, and general property upkeep
• Collaborate with team members on larger or more complex repair projects
• Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with residents and staff

Schedule & Compensation:

• Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Participation in an on-call rotation required
• Starting pay at $20.46/hour, with pay commensurate based on experience

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction trades or general maintenance, or completion of a vocational trade program
• Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by JMHA's insurance carrier
• Ability to perform a wide range of maintenance tasks safely and independently
• Ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and the public

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 35+ pounds regularly
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform tasks in varying weather conditions
• Frequent travel between JMHA properties
