We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. This role is crucial to ensuring the optimal performance of flexographic printing presses, thermoforming machinery, and associated production equipment in our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment upgrades while minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.

 

The successful candidate must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and a solid electrical background, including hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial 3-phase electrical systems commonly found in manufacturing environments.

 

 

Location: Thonotosassa, FL

Salary: $29-31 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday (6AM – 2PM EST)

Key Responsibilities: 

Flexographic Press Maintenance

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on flexographic printing presses.
  • Maintain and calibrate mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components of flexographic printing equipment.

Thermoforming Machine Maintenance

  • Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on thermoforming machines, heating systems, cooling systems, and vacuum systems.
  • Maintain machine temperature controls and other thermoforming-related components.

General Equipment Maintenance

  • Maintain auxiliary equipment, including conveyors, chillers, trim equipment, compressors, and other production support systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues across a variety of production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair industrial 3-phase electrical systems, including electrical panels, motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and control circuits.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to safely troubleshoot electrical and control system issues.
  • Assist with machine installations, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety practices, and safe operation of production equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
  • Track equipment performance, identify recurring issues, and contribute to preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Communicate equipment-related issues effectively with Production and Management to minimize production downtime.

Collaboration and Problem Solving

  • Work closely with production personnel and fellow maintenance technicians to ensure safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending equipment and process improvements.
  • The ability to adhere to Clarest’s Code of Conduct, follow Clarest Compliance policies and procedures, and report any suspected violations of any federal or state laws to either their direct supervisor, Human Resources or the Compliance Officer  

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or an Associate's Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience maintaining flexographic printing presses and thermoforming machinery is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial 3-phase electrical systems (480V/277V preferred), including electrical panels, motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, VFDs, transformers, and control circuits.
  • Ability to safely troubleshoot and repair complex industrial machinery, including PLCs, sensors, drives, and industrial electrical controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and industrial safety procedures.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Skills + Abilities: 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, mechanical noise, dust, heat, and fumes.
