Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician supports a high-volume manufacturing facility by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.


Responsibilities


+ Follow all safety guidelines, maintain a safe work environment, and promptly report any safety concerns.

+ Read and interpret electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and instrumentation schematics, and create sketches when needed for clarity.

+ Install, maintain, repair, and replace automation systems throughout the production process.

+ Troubleshoot and repair components such as servos, sensors, control systems, PLC hardware and software, solid-state motor drives, temperature controllers, and computerized control systems.

+ Set up and troubleshoot in-mold labeling systems, heat transfer machines, and equipment operating at 480V.

+ Diagnose and repair electro-mechanical and instrumentation equipment using appropriate testing tools such as meters and gauges.

+ Apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to repair or replace equipment components.

+ Assemble prototype or experimental circuits based on engineering instructions and technical documentation.

+ Recommend design or circuitry improvements to simplify installation, operation, and maintenance.

+ Analyze data from diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve system issues and improve equipment performance.

+ Adjust, calibrate, and align equipment and components, and document performance results.

+ Test newly installed equipment to verify system performance under real operating conditions.

+ Identify and resolve root causes of downtime, scrap, and production inefficiencies.

+ Support continuous improvement initiatives by optimizing plant processes and equipment performance.

+ Maintain backups of programs from all electrical devices and ensure proper version control.

+ Complete preventive maintenance tasks and maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities.

+ Track and log equipment usage, maintenance activity, and parts replacement in appropriate systems or reports.

+ Report automation system status and performance to leadership as needed.

+ Assist in developing and updating maintenance procedures and work instructions.

+ Communicate effectively with supervisors and team leaders regarding safety, quality, and production concerns.

+ Maintain organized and clean work areas in accordance with 5S principles.

+ Prepare work areas before tasks and ensure tools are available, properly maintained, and in good working condition.

+ Support training initiatives and attend required training sessions to stay current on equipment and processes.

+ Assist in identifying needs for new or replacement equipment to support production and reliability goals.

+ Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to resolve equipment and process issues.


Essential Skills


+ Minimum of 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience.

+ At least 2 years of experience in electrical and robotic work.

+ Strong mechanical aptitude and proven troubleshooting skills.

+ Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, controls, and communication protocols.

+ Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and instrumentation schematics.

+ Ability to understand and work with basic ladder logic diagrams.

+ Hands-on experience with AC/DC motors, starters, and relays.

+ Hands-on experience with capacitive and inductive sensors.

+ Practical experience with PLC systems and related components, including PLC troubleshooting.

+ Experience using precision measuring tools and electrical testing equipment for diagnostics and repair.

+ Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting, including work with 3-phase power and 480V systems.

+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively across maintenance, engineering, and production teams.

+ Basic computer skills, including email, report writing, and use of spreadsheets for tracking parts and projects.

+ Ability to manage and support projects related to process improvements and equipment changes.

+ Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to grease, oils, solvents, noise, and alarms.

+ Willingness to work overtime, different shifts, and be on-call as required.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Associate (2-year) technical degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

+ 2+ years of hydraulic mechanic experience is a plus.

+ Experience with injection molding processes is beneficial.

+ Experience working with automation systems beyond basic operation and troubleshooting.

+ Familiarity with conveyors and industrial maintenance in a high-volume production setting.

+ Lean manufacturing and 5S experience is preferred.

+ Ability to read blueprints and mechanical schematics.

+ Experience performing preventive maintenance and maintenance repair on production equipment.

Work Environment


This role is based in a manufacturing plant in Lordstown, OH, with a 12-hour rotating schedule available on 1st shift (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) and 3rd shift (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.). The environment includes exposure to grease, oils, solvents, noise, and alarms, and involves working around automation systems, injection molding equipment, conveyors, AC/DC motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and PLC-controlled machinery. Work is hands-on, using precision measuring tools, electrical test equipment, meters, gauges, and diagnostic devices. The facility follows 5S principles, emphasizing organized, clean, and well-prepared work areas, with appropriate industrial attire required to support safety and productivity.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.37 - $41.00/hr.
