Essential Functions: (Responsibilities, Tasks, Supervisory Needs) 

  • Observes and assists with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment 
  • Supports basic disassembly, reassembly, cleaning, and lubrication of machinery 
  • Assists with inspection of parts and equipment using basic measurement tools 
  • Learns proper use of hand tools and shop equipment 
  • Supports preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and related documentation 
  • Shadows Maintenance Mechanics during equipment repairs and shift handovers 
  • Follows all plant food safety, environmental, and safety policies and procedures 
  • Completes required safety, environmental, and compliance training 
  • Reports any observed safety, environmental, or operational concerns to designated personnel 
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of the maintenance team

Travel/On-Call Requirements: Must be able to commute to Anacortes, Washington for 2-3 days per week. Travel to other Washington plants in Bellingham and Everett may be required on occasion.  

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $22 - $25 per hour.

Minimum Requirements 

Required Qualifications: (Education, Years of Experience, Certifications) 

  • High school diploma or GED (or actively working toward completion) 

Preferred Education & Experiences: 

  • Enrollment in, or strong interest in, a technical, vocational, or mechanical program preferred 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): 

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn 
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a production environment 
  • Reliable attendance for a part-time schedule (2–3 days per week) 

Work environment:  

This role takes place in both an office and production setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.  

Work Ability Requirements: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
