Description


 

PURPOSE

Perform a variety of semiskilled work in servicing, maintaining, and repairing hydraulics and other mechanical equipment. Perform semiskilled building maintenance and repair requiring a working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and minor electrical work.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Record, log, and maintain required maintenance reports and records. 

 

Work from work orders, drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams in addition to written and verbal instructions. 

 

Install new or relocate existing machinery, equipment and other accessories. 

 

Install, maintain and repair mechanical, hydraulic and other production and service systems. 

 

Tear down, troubleshoot faulty operation, repair or replace worn or defective parts; reassemble and adjust for proper operation. 

 

Perform preventive maintenance on all machinery, equipment, facilities; install switches, lighting fixtures, replace fuses and faulty wiring; 

 

Maintain and repair plumbing, roofs, floors, walls, and parking facilities. 

 

Maintain grounds and keep outside facilities and structures in proper condition. 

 

Repair plant and office structures, furnishings and the like. 

 

Use forklift, pulleys, and other lift equipment as necessary to move and position parts and materials. 

 

Detect and report faulty equipment, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision. 

 

Setup and operate grinders, drill presses, and other metal working tools to make and repair parts.

 

Perform duties of electric/acetylene welding and torch cutting. 

 

Has the authority to stop the process if a safety or a quality issue arises in order to inform supervision to make a decision.

 

Observe all prescribed environmental, health and safety rules & regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition. Exercise proper care and safety in the use of power tools, equipment and materials. 

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
    • Must be able to perform basic math.
    • Must be able to read and write fluently.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable
  • Must be able to attend outside training classes as needed.
  • Must be able to complete Apprenticeship program in 3 years, focusing on electrical and hydraulic.
  • Must be able to work any shift.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Some basic mechanical skills desirable.

About the Role:

The Maintenance position is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing processes by maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment. This role involves conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and performing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing maintenance schedules and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Additionally, they will collaborate with production teams to identify areas for improvement and optimize equipment performance. Ultimately, the goal of this position is to enhance operational efficiency and contribute to the overall productivity of the manufacturing facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in maintenance or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification in maintenance or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and ensure equipment is operating efficiently.
  • Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records of repairs and inspections.
  • Collaborate with production staff to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance tasks.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities, which are essential for diagnosing and repairing equipment issues. Attention to detail is crucial when conducting inspections and documenting maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety standards. Communication skills are important for collaborating with production teams and effectively scheduling maintenance tasks. Preferred skills such as technical certifications and experience with CMMS can enhance the candidate's ability to streamline maintenance processes and improve equipment reliability. Overall, a combination of these skills will enable the maintenance professional to contribute significantly to the operational success of the manufacturing facility.
