Job Description

Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a Maintenance Worker / Maintenance Technician to support the repair, maintenance, and safe operation of commercial facilities throughout Mecklenburg County, NC. This hands-on role is ideal for candidates with experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, HVAC support, electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, or general handyman work. The Maintenance Worker will complete preventive maintenance, respond to work orders, troubleshoot building systems, and perform repairs to keep facilities operating efficiently. Work is performed in active commercial environments and requires the safe use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and maintenance equipment. The position offers $22.00-$24.00 per hour, with opportunities to develop skills across multiple building trades while providing excellent service to clients and building occupants. Successful candidates are dependable, safety-focused, and able to work independently while managing multiple maintenance tasks.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facility infrastructure
  • Complete assigned work orders accurately and on schedule using the maintenance management system (Archibus or similar)
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, lighting, HVAC, and mechanical issues
  • Repair and maintain doors, locks, windows, ceilings, flooring, drywall, and other building components
  • Perform basic carpentry, painting, patchwork, and general building repairs
  • Replace ceiling tiles, light fixtures, air filters, belts, and other facility components
  • Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and urgent repair situations
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other maintenance equipment
  • Assist with furniture moves, office reconfigurations, and facility improvement projects
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and work order documentation
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors during maintenance and repair projects
  • Maintain a clean, organized maintenance shop, work area, and company vehicle
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours emergency response when assigned
  • Follow OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, company safety policies, and PPE requirements
  • Deliver professional customer service while interacting with building occupants, clients, and team members

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, property maintenance, commercial maintenance, or a related trade
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, lighting, HVAC, and general mechanical repairs
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and maintenance equipment
  • Experience completing preventive maintenance and corrective repair work
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and complete work orders and maintenance documentation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities including standing, walking, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to workplace safety and following OSHA and PPE requirements
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules and respond to after-hours emergency calls when assigned

Preferred

  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) such as Archibus
  • Experience in commercial facilities, healthcare, education, manufacturing, or industrial environments
  • Trade-related certifications in HVAC, electrical, maintenance, or building operations
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
