The City of Saratoga Springs currently has an opening for a Maintenance Worker I - III – Parks. This is a full-time position with the Saratoga Springs Public Works Department of approximately 40 hours per week. This position performs skilled work pertaining to landscape maintenance and maintenance of Saratoga Springs City parks, streetscapes, park facilities, and other City of Saratoga Springs property. This employee also functions as one of the City's principal "on-call" employees for after-hour emergencies related to area of responsibility and for snow plowing.

Works under the specific direction of the Maintenance Supervisor – Parks and the Parks Superintendent, and the general direction of the Public Work Director. All employees are also under the general supervision of the City Manager

Qualifications

Maintenance Worker I

Education & Experience:

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must possess a Utah driver's license.
  • No experience is required; however preference will be given to applicants with some experience working in parks maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.

Special Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Utah CDL class A Driver's License, with a Tanker endorsement or be able to obtain one within 6 months.
  • CPR.
  • First Aid.
  • Certified Utah Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicators License category # 3 Ornamental turf Certified Utah Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicators License, category #3 Ornamental turf.

Maintenance Worker II

Education & Experience:

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must possess a Utah driver's license.
  • Two (2) years of experience.

Special Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Utah CDL class A Driver's License, with a Tanker endorsement or be able to obtain one within 6 months.
  • CPR.
  • First Aid.
  • Certified Utah Non Commercial Pesticide Applicators License category # 3 Ornamental turf Certified Utah Non Commercial Pesticide Applicators License, category #3 Ornamental turf.
  • LTAP Winter Weather Training

Maintenance Worker III

Education & Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
  • Four (4) years previous experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, or related field.

Special Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Utah CDL class A Driver's License, with a Tanker endorsement or be able to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI)
  • CPR
  • First Aid
  • City Works work order documentation
  • Certified Utah Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicators License, category #3 Ornamental turf
  • LTAP Winter Weather Training
  • OSHA Confined Space Training / LTAP Training

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range:

The full salary range is as follows, please note hiring will normally occur at the Minimum of the range and will not exceed the Midpoint of the range:

Maintenance Worker I

Minimum - $20.73/hr., Midpoint - $24.88/hr., Maximum - $29.02/hr.

Maintenance Worker II

Minimum - $22.37/hr., Midpoint - $26.84/hr., Maximum - $31.32/hr.

Maintenance Worker III

Minimum - $25.03/hr., Midpoint - $30.04/hr., Maximum - $35.04/hr.

Benefits:

The City participates in the Utah Public Retirement System (pension). In addition, the City does not participate in Social Security so no Social Security taxes are deducted from your paycheck. In lieu of the City's Social Security contributions, the City contributes 6.2% of salary into a 401(k) retirement plan.

Leave time benefits include 120 hours of paid time off (PTO) accrued annually, 40 hours of short-term medical accrued annually, and 11 holidays annually.

Monday - Thursday: 7 am - 6 pm
