Salary: Days - $23.25/hour
Evenings - $23.25/hour
Evenings Differential - $1.00/hour
Overnight - $23.25/hour
Overnight Differential - $1.75/hour
Schedule:
Monday – Friday
Days:8-hour shifts will be determined between the hours of 5:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Evenings: 3 p.m.-11:30 p.m.
Description:The Maintenance Worker is responsible for supporting the safe, clean, attractive, and functional operation of campus facilities. This position performs routine building maintenance, repair work, and general campus upkeep across academic, residential, athletic, and administrative buildings. The role supports the college’s mission by maintaining campus infrastructure and appearance in accordance with Paul Smith's College safety, operational, and customer service standards. Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and general building systems.
Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, hardware, and fixtures.
Conduct preventative maintenance according to schedule and work orders.
Monitor campus buildings and report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or repair needs.
Support emergency maintenance response activities and snow removal operations as needed.
Follow all OSHA, PPE, chemical handling, and campus safety procedures.
Maintain tools, equipment, and related guards in good operating conditions.
Complete assigned work orders and documentation accurately and timely.
Maintain positive customer service interactions with students, faculty, staff, and guests.
Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects and goals.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Team Coordinator or designee in their absence.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Experience: 1–3 years of facilities maintenance or related experience required.
Specific experience in higher education or larger plant operations highly preferred.
Basic practical knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
Strong customer service orientation.
Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Active driver’s license and driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier.
Physical Requirements:
Environmental Conditions
Academic and residential campus environment.
Regular exposure to outdoor weather, chemicals, dust, noise, and mechanical equipment.
Noises related to mechanical equipment and tools including?vibrations should be expected.
Working spaces may be crowded based on traffic and space configuration.
Lifting and Carrying
Ability to regularly lift up to 50–75 pounds.
Routine lifting between 10-35 lbs.?
Utilize assistive devices and?equipment?as necessary.
Mobility
Perform physically active work including bending, walking, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.?
Occasional need to reach overhead to perform work duties.
Utilize mobility assistive devices and equipment as necessary.
Dexterity and Hand-Eye Coordination
Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to safely handle tools and operate maintenance related equipment.
Sensory Requirements
Good vision and hearing, with corrective or assistive devices as necessary, to safely monitor campus buildings and operate machinery.
