Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; experience in grounds maintenance preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and to wear steel-toed work boots. Current valid drivers license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.

Youll play a vital role in helping maintain our parks and facilities as premier locations in Virginia. Experience working as a seasonal maintenance worker has proven beneficial to those seeking non-seasonal positions within the department. Start your path today! Our parks and school grounds maintenance staff perform grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, athletic field maintenance, restroom maintenance, shelter maintenance and litter removal. The Landscape maintenance staff perform maintenance in park and school landscape beds by delivering and spreading mulch, trimming hedges, some playground maintenance and assisting Sheriffs work force. Perform other work as required. PLEASE NOTE: Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment.
Shift
32 hours/week; seasonal employment until November 1. Shifts may vary with coverage needs spanning 7 days/week; includes holidays and weekends; hours are typically 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; may include some evenings.
