Hiring Pay Range: $18.16 to $22.70 per hour

Position Summary:
Performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled work in the collection and processing of solid waste at the City transfer station and/or in the maintenance and repair of streets, infrastructure, facilities, buildings, and public rights-of-way.
Essential Duties:
- Ensures the cleanliness and upkeep of the transfer station facility.
- Assists, directs, and educates customers in proper disposal methods.
- Picks up, loads, and transports waste products to transfer station for proper disposal; operates pickup truck or other light automotive equipment.
- Operates equipment such as bobcats, boom crane, loaders, and 1-ton dump trucks, as assigned.
- Uses and maintains small hand and power tools.
- Helps maintain public recycling convenience center and grounds,
- Assists in the preparation and cleanup of special events and services.
- Responsible for the over site and operations of the wood processing operation, inert debris program and wood chip distribution program.
- Delivers and/or replaces trash and recycle cans to customers.
- Greases vehicles and equipment as needed.
- Maintains brush piles.
- Repairs potholes.
- Remove dead animals.
- Sets forms for curb and gutter fabrication.
- Assists concrete finishers.
- Paints street curbs, crosswalks, and loading zones.
- Trims trees.
- Operates wood chippers.
- Clears and cleans streets, alleys, trails, and worksites of construction materials, debris, and trash.
- Operates snow removal equipment; spreads cinders.
- Directs traffic at facilities or during road repairs.
- Installs and repair parking meters.
- Enters daily activities into system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Prefer construction or other trade experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license. Class B commercial driver's license or greater is preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Work is performed at facilities or in the field.
- Requires working Tuesday through Saturday or any combination of days to meet the Divisions needs, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Safely lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries 75 pounds without assistance.
- Clearly, concisely, and effectively communicates in person, over the telephone, and over the radio.
- Safely operates required equipment and vehicles necessary in performance of required duties.
- Work is performed in an environment with heavy equipment and machinery that could result in bodily harm to self or others.
