Position Summary

The Full-Time School Maintenance Worker is responsible for supporting the upkeep, safety, and functionality of school facilities. This role ensures that classrooms, common areas, and grounds are well-maintained, clean, and safe for students, staff, and visitors.

General Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with performing routine maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting).
• Assist with preventative maintenance of building systems and equipment.
• Maintain school grounds, including basic landscaping, snow removal, and trash removal.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
• Set up and break down rooms for events, meetings, school lunch, and activities.
• Identify safety hazards or repair needs as they arise.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are used safely and stored properly.
• Comply with school and Archdiocese policies, safety standards, and local regulations.
• Communicate effectively with school staff regarding maintenance needs.
• Occasionally help with needs at Parish Center and Church.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior maintenance, custodial, or facilities experience preferred.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift up to fifty pounds.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
• Exposure to cleaning products, maintenance equipment, and construction-related materials.
• Regular interaction with students, staff, parents, parishioners, and visitors.
• Full-time position with occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work required for special events, emergencies, snow removal, and seasonal maintenance needs.

This position has an hourly range of $20.00 - $25.00. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
