POSITION 

The Maintenance/Building Mechanic position fills a vital role. Vista Hill has facilities from Ramona to the coast, El Cajon to National City. All facilities are serviced by a 4-person team that must have a variety of skills in maintenance, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc. An example of tasks include:

  • The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Facilities Manger on departmental and program projects.
  • Performs repairs, maintenance, and project work as assigned.
  • Responsible for safety problem resolution.
  • Conducts walk through of assigned facilities collecting data and performs required equipment tests.
  • Provides a clean work environment by effectively managing maintenance, repair, and project activities.
  • Maintains customary relationship with vendors, local representatives for fire protection, law enforcement, public utilities and other agencies as required.
  • Completes scheduled preventative maintenance procedures at required intervals.
  • Responsible for performing equipment and work area safety checks.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

 

· High School diploma

· Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in maintenance or related field.

· Must have the ability to read blueprints.

· Must have experience with manual and power tools.

· Must have knowledge of safety practices related to hand and power tools.

· Must be free of parole and probation for a period specified by program contract.

· Must have a valid California driver's license and a clean driving record.

· Must pass pre-employment background check, TB and drug screening.

HOURS 

40 hours per week, primarily M-F, however, the nature of this jobs will result in overtime and possibly being called in afterhours/weekends if an urgent need arises.

PAY 

$24.00 per hour

This is a starting rate and may be adjusted up based on education and experience

Current Vista Hill employees in this job title for 2025 are paid $25.06 - $31.42 per hour

BENEFITS

Employees working at least 30 hours a week receive employer-paid benefits, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off (vacation and sick leave), paid holidays, employer-paid retirement contribution. Some programs qualify for student loan forgiveness programs.

Employees who work less than 30 hours a week do not qualify for healthcare benefits.
