**Job Summary and Responsibilities** As our **Mammography Technologist (Mammo Tech)** , you will be vital in early breast cancer detection, performing high-quality mammographic imaging with precision and compassion. Every day, you will expertly operate equipment, meticulously position patients, ensure comfort, perform quality control, and maintain accurate records. You'll collaborate with radiologists and adhere to safety and regulatory standards for comprehensive breast health. To be successful in this role, you will possess current mammography certification, exceptional technical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a compassionate demeanor, ensuring accurate diagnostics and positive patient experiences. + **Equipment Preparation & Quality Assurance:** Prepares and verifies imaging equipment, sets parameters, performs QA checks, and ensures consistent, high-quality image production. + **Patient Communication & Comfort:** Explains procedures, addresses patient concerns, ensures patient identification and preparation, and monitors patient's physical and emotional comfort throughout the exam. + **Imaging Procedure & Optimization:** Operates mammography equipment, positions patients, selects appropriate protocols and exposure factors based on individual needs, and adjusts for optimal diagnostic quality. + **Patient Safety & Radiation Protection:** Adheres to pre-screening policies, practices radiation protection techniques, and follows patient safety standards with all equipment. + **Documentation & Archiving:** Maintains comprehensive records of exams, prepares cases for interpretation, and archives images according to departmental and licensure requirements. + **Assists with Special Procedures & Care:** May assist physicians with stereotactic breast biopsies and performs basic nursing functions, including responding to emergencies, as needed. **Job Requirements** Required + Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology, and two years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities. Some designated positions may require successful completion of accredited coursework for stereotactic breast biopsy, or willingness to be trained on-the-job to perform this procedure. A minimum of fifteen continuing education credit hours in a 36-month period specific to mammography is required. Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position and that meets the qualifications of any required certification or licensure. + American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) (M) (R) + Current State of Washington licensure as a Radiology Technologist - Certified. + Washington Society of Radiological Technologist (WSRT) recommended. + Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification Where You'll Work Virginia Mason Franciscan Health has a rich history of providing exceptional healthcare, dating back to 1891.
