Job Purpose: Performs specialized examination of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Mammography technologists may perform screening exams or diagnostic exams.
Essential Functions: (Examples of Duties)
Should be able to do Plain Films, Dexa, Mammograms.
Education: Completion of a two-year approved School of Radiologic Technology
Experience: One year full-time experience as a Mammography Technologist
Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Must maintain a high degree of accuracy in mammography positioning and exposure technique. Uses professional and ethical judgement and critical thinking when performing their duties. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid ARRT Registration and Tennessee Medical X-Ray Operator License. Mammo Certification is preferred. CPR certification.
Working Conditions: Exposure to potential radiation and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. May be required to help lift/transfer patients. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
