ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the daily operation of the women's health section of radiology.
• Responsible for suggesting changes in procedures, policies, and quality improvement, as well as
coordinating training and development in breast imaging specialties.
• Adheres to all FDA guidelines for the mammography section.
• Serves as the facility MQSA Consultant and primary resource for MQSA, FDA, ACR, and state regulatory compliance.
• Coordinates MQSA inspections, ACR accreditation, and regulatory survey readiness.
• Maintains all required MQSA documentation, personnel qualifications, continuing
education/experience, QC records, physicist reports, medical audits, consumer complaints, and corrective actions.
• Oversees the Mammography QA/QC program and reviews all required quality control activities.
• Leads mammography quality improvement initiatives and maintains continuous inspection readiness.
• Develops and reviews mammography policies and procedures.
• Monitors outcomes audits, repeat analysis, image quality, and performance metrics.
• Provides staff education regarding MQSA requirements and best practices.
• Serves as liaison with radiologists, physicists, vendors, quality, and leadership.
• Maintains appropriate records for all accreditation processes and inspections.
• Maintains a structured reporting system to ensure accurate audit reporting, statistical tracking, and resolution of workflow issues.
• Ensures completion of daily QA and preventative maintenance scheduling.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Mammography imaging procedures
• Performs all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols the exam with the Radiologist.
• Practices radiation safety.

• Ability to operate equipment consistently with the manufacturer's recommendations.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems and independently calls a service engineer if the malfunction needs outside maintenance.
• Verifies exam orders, identifies the patient through two means of identification, and provides exam education.
• Reviews and documents the patient's medical history, obtains required informed consent, and ensures all necessary paperwork and prior studies are complete and available before submitting procedures for Radiologist interpretation.
• Maintains accurate patient records in EHR, including charging procedures and supplies.
• May be required to perform other functions within the clinic. Any additional training required will be provided.
• Demonstrates flexibility by assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and taking calls, overtime, or holiday shifts as needed.
• Obtains additional training or certification as required.
• Assists with clerical duties, phone reception, and patient transportation when required.
• Assists, trains, or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed.
• Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
• Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver's license).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Must successfully pass a: pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
• Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE(S), AND CERTIFICATION(S)

  • Required     
    Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program. 
    ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire or transfer)

 

EXPERIENCE

   Preferred
   Two (2) years prior experience as a practicing Radiologic Technologist, CT, and MRI Technologist.

   Cross-trained into other modalities, including, but not limited to: CT, MRI, and DEXA.

    Experience with electronic records, including PACS and EPIC

    Required

    Prior Regulatory Survey Experience (MQSA)

    Prior Breast Imaging Quality program oversight
