The Mammography Technologists specializes in performing mammograms and other imaging procedures to detect and diagnosis breast cancer and other breast abnormalities. They use specialized equipment and techniques to produce high-quality images of the breast tissue. The Mammography Technologists must maintain detailed records and follow strict guidelines and protocols to ensure the images produced are the highest quality. They also assist the Radiologist with stereotactic breast biopsies. They will be responsible for a multitude of Dx radiography imaging exams. The employee will provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors and staff with an emphasis on quality service and excellent patient care. The ideal candidate for this role must be self-motivated and demonstrate ability to work as a team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Operates equipment and performs various mammography / x-ray related procedures. Prepares and positions patients and select anatomic and technical parameters.
  • Explains procedures and educates patients about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health.
  • Evaluates the image for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion.
  • Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensures prompt submission of all high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correctly marked and patient data/history).
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and any other areas in the department.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Maintain compassionate patient care, comfort and safety, while ensuring patient confidentiality
  • Follows all state regulations, and perform and maintain department QA procedures and documentation.
  • Assists with training and educating new staff members and students as appropriate.
  • Maintains all credentials and CE credits essential to position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education: Minimum of Associates degree, Radiologic Sciences ARRT. Certification in Mammography preferred. For those not currently certified, the requirement is to become certified within 1 year of the date of hire (except for Per Diems - where this will not be required - but still is preferred)
  • Experience: Preference of two years' experience, but willing to train new graduates.
  • Licensure: NYS Radiology and/or Mammography Technologist. Certification through AART- M (Mammography) or ARRT-R (Radiography). New York State Department of Health License or eligible..

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred
  • Good written and oral communication skills preferred.
  • Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, safely transfer patients and ambulate without assistance

Location and Travel Requirements:

  • Location: Multiple Locations including Cayuga Medical Center - East Campus at 10 Arrowwood Dr, Ithaca, NY 14850 and Cayuga Park Imaging at 401 Cayuga Park Ln 4th Floor, Ithaca, NY 14850
  • Shift: Full-Time Days FLEX - Mammo Shifts 7a-4p and XRay Shifts Weekends 8a-6p. Individuals in this role will be scheduled to work rotating X Ray Shifts on the weekends
  • 0%-15% Travel can be expected between both sites in this role

Pay Range Disclosure:

  • Standard Rate of $31.25 to $40.87 per hour plus benefits
