Mammography Technologist - New Jersey - Permanent Hire Job Summary:
Seeking a mammography technician, responsible for detecting breast tissue abnormalities by completing mammographic imaging studies and presenting them for diagnosis.
Essential Functions:
Greets patients and confirms patient identification, reviews imaging requests, checks for special instructions, and confirms anticipated service with patients.
Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of imaging procedures, and answering questions.
Conducts mammography studies by positioning breasts, adjusting compression mechanisms, and activating equipment to take images.
Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques.
Maintains production and quality of mammograms by following established standards and procedures, observing mammogram results, and forwarding completed studies to radiologists for interpretation.
Ensures operation of mammography equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and maintaining equipment inventories.
Keeps mammography supplies and patient drapes ready, maintains a safe and healthy work environment, and documents patient mammogram services.
Qualifications:
Current State License and ARRT registry
Specialized training in mammography
High school graduate or equivalent
Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school
Mammographic Radiologic Technology certified
Able to operate sophisticated computer equipment
Able to interact compassionately and effectively with patients
Able to communicate effectively
Able to perform well independently and follow detailed instructions
Highly self-motivated
