JOB OBJECTIVE
A Mobile Mammography Technologist operates specialized breast imaging equipment within a mobile van, traveling to various community sites to perform screening mammograms. This role involves positioning patients, ensuring high-quality imaging, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment, and providing excellent patient care. Key requirements include ARRT(R) certification and state-specific mammography licensing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates mammography equipment and performs mammography exams.
- Acts as lead for all mammography activities under the supervision of the Lead Radiologist.
- Responsible for the maintenance of all documentation to ensure a consistent state of regulatory readiness.
- Performs all required QC and QA necessary to maintain licensure in good standing.
- Applies and follows radiation safety principles (i.e. ALARA) to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Consistently ensure good patient care, comfort, safety, and confidentiality.
- Maintains adequate level of supplies and keeps workspace clean.
- Communicates mammography exam procedures to patients and enlists patient cooperation in positioning for mammography examination.
- Provides patient education regarding mammography and breast health.
- Understands and uses Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other software related to job responsibilities.
- Schedules exams and reviews pervious records to determine correct studies are performed. Ensures exams are completed and images are in Picture Archiving and Communication (PACS) systems.
- Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Follow the HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures.
- Creates, updates, and maintains policies and procedures to ensure operational and regulatory compliance.
- Responsible for prompt communication of abnormal mammogram findings to the ordering provider.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Current California Certified Radiologic Technologist.
- Current California Mammography Certificate.
- Minimum 1-year Clinical Mammography Experience Preferred.
- CE requirements: 15 CEUs in mammography every 3 yrs.
- Clinical experience a minimum of 100 mammograms must be performed a year
- Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred.
- Mammography Mobile Experience Preferred.
- BCLS Required.
- Knowledge of diagnostic principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of radiologic equipment as acquired through satisfactory completion of an accredited radiologic technology training program.
- Strong communication skills and a patient-first mindset.
- Able to perform well independently.
