Employees at this level acquire Mammography images which are used for medical diagnoses and treatment. These Mammography images are interpreted by a Radiologist board-certified in Mammography to identify breast abnormalities. The Mammography Technologist works under direct supervision of higher-level personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs routine Mammography Imaging exams and procedures
- Utilizes department clinical protocols to obtain optimal quality imaging
- Obtains detailed history from patient and medical record
- Educates patients on breast care
- Navigates electronic medical record and other information systems utilized to process imaging
- Schedules patients for exams and assists with some regulatory clerical functions
- Performs all quality control functions related to mammography equipment
- Assists in training and education of Mammography students
- Participates in the enforcement of Radiation safety practices
- Responds to patient and/or staff service and patient experience issues.
- Adheres to regulatory standards such as MQSA, The Joint Commission, ACR, IDPH and Infection Control policy
- Reports equipment failures and supply shortages as needed
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
