Management Analyst I: $34.80 - $47.85/hour ($72,378.87 - $99,520.26 annually)
Management Analyst II: $38.36 - $52.75/hour ($79,797.15 - $109,721.09 annually)

The City of Carpinteria is seeking a motivated Management Analyst I/II to join our General Government Department.

This flexibly staffed position is currently assigned to the General Government Department, supporting the City Managers Office. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of special projects, organizational initiatives, policy research, data analysis, and process improvements that support City operations and strategic priorities.
Reporting directly to the Assistant City Manager, the incumbent performs a variety of professional administrative duties pertaining to the programs and projects assigned to the General Government Department. Responsibilities may include finance/accounting, human resources, risk management, information systems, and coordination of assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies.
Management Analyst I: The Management Analyst I position is the professional entry-level class in the Management Analyst series. Incumbents assigned to this class perform routine organization, policies and procedures analysis, related budget functions, and program direction as assigned. Management Analyst I assignments are generally more routine in nature and work closely within a framework of established procedures.
Management Analyst II: The Management Analyst II position is the journey class in the Management Analyst series. Positions assigned to this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the lower class of Management Analyst I. Appointments filled from outside the organization require prior professional administrative analysis experience. This classification is distinguished from the I level by the performance of budget management, independent work and decision-making, and direct and indirect supervision over lower-level subordinates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A combination of experience and education equivalent to a bachelors degree in business or public administration or a related field; AND experience as follows:
Management Analyst I
Requires one year of professional administrative/analytical experience. Public sector experience is desirable. A Masters degree, plus completion of an internship with a local government agency, is also qualifying.
Management Analyst II
Requires two years of experience equivalent to that of a Management Analyst I with the City of Carpinteria, performing a variety of professional support activities, preferably in a public agency.
