The City of Azle is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and innovative professional to serve as our next Management Assistant. Reporting to the City Manager, the Management Assistant performs highly responsible administrative and professional work in support of the City Manager and Assistant City Manager. This position serves a key role in advancing organizational priorities by coordinating special projects, conducting research and analysis, supporting policy initiatives and implementation, and facilitating communication across departments and with external stakeholders.
The Management Assistant serves as an important liaison between the City Manager's Office, City departments, outside agencies, and the community. The position requires considerable independent judgment, initiative, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic municipal environment.
This position works under the general supervision of the City Manager or Assistant City Manager.
Coordinate and manage special projects, strategic initiatives, and organizational improvement efforts.
Conduct research, collect data, and prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for executive leadership.
Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and procedures.
Serve as a liaison between the City Manager's Office, City departments, elected officials, outside agencies, community organizations, and residents.
Monitor and track project progress to ensure timely completion of assigned initiatives.
Prepare and proofread correspondence, agenda materials, memoranda, and other professional documents.
Assist with interdepartmental coordination and communication to support organizational goals.
Represent the City Manager's Office at meetings, events, and community engagements as assigned.
Perform other related duties and special assignments as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration, local government operations, public relations, media communications, and community engagement strategies.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and municipal laws, codes, and regulations.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; ability to produce professional-level reports, presentations, graphics, and correspondence.
Skilled with utilizing research and statistical methods; ability to compile and analyze complex data.
Ability to:
Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and implement effective courses of action.
Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse audiences.
Establish and maintain positive effective working relationships with elected officials, city staff, community groups, and the public.
Manage multiple complex assignments with competing deadlines.
Exercise sound judgment, confidentiality, and political acumen.
Design and execute staff strategies that leverage Al or other advanced technologies to streamline workflows, improve decision-making, and enhance public transparency.
Develop and deliver high-quality reports and dashboards that communicate complex information in clear, actionable ways for Council, staff. and the public.
Demonstrate strategic thinking and problem solving.
Plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments.
Demonstrate exceptional verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
Utilize modern technology applications, including automation and integration of artificial intelligence (Al), data analytics, and digital tools to improve service delivery.Education and Experience:Associate’s or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college preferred. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in local government administration, policy analysis, project management, or relevant field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess:

Work EnvironmentWork is performed primarily in an in-person office environment, with occasional required attendance at evening or weekend City Council meetings and some community events. Position requires frequent use of computers and standard office equipment. Work involves meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
