Job Details

Responsibilities

• Represent employers in state and federal employment litigation
• Handle matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, and related workplace disputes
• Manage cases from initial evaluation through discovery, dispositive motions, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other substantive legal documents
• Take and defend depositions
• Conduct witness interviews and prepare witnesses for deposition and trial
• Develop litigation strategy and provide clients with ongoing case assessments
• Represent clients at mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and court appearances
• Negotiate settlements and evaluate potential exposure
• Advise employers regarding litigation risk and employment-related compliance issues
• Work directly with HR professionals, executives, in-house counsel, and other client stakeholders

Qualifications

• Active membership in good standing with the California Bar
• Experience handling management-side employment litigation, at least 10 years
• Strong knowledge of California and federal employment law
• Experience with discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour matters
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Experience drafting substantive motions and managing written discovery
• Deposition experience strongly preferred
• Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
• Strong client communication and case management skills
• Ability to develop practical litigation strategies while balancing legal risk and business considerations
