Manager, Architecture - Facades & Branding

Position Overview

The Manager, Architecture - Facades & Branding will support the Architecture team across new store and relocation programs, with primary responsibility for façade design. This role will collaborate with internal and external partners to understand project goals, requirements, and budgets while evaluating site conditions, zoning regulations, environmental factors, and other relevant considerations. The Manager will prepare and submit documentation required for building permits, coordinate with local authorities to ensure regulatory compliance, and address requested revisions or issues. This position will also maintain ongoing communication throughout all phases of design and construction, responding to feedback, concerns, and questions in a timely and professional manner.

A Day In The Life

• EXTERIOR FAÇADE DESIGN

• Produces architectural renderings of façade elevations using digital tools and design & artistic skill.

• Produces façade exhibits in line with the Burlington Brand to communicate design intent.

• Solves design issues and produce architectural renderings and façade finish documentation specific to each store site.

• Responsible for applying signage code, landlord and center design guidelines while developing designs based on landlord and local municipal requirements.

• Review architectural blueprints and specifications and use to inform façade and signage design.

• Researches and explores architectural materials and makes recommendations to advance performance and cost targets of company.

• Ability to travel to sites to record site conditions, materials, record needed dimensions to produce required execution documentation.

• PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• Runs many projects simultaneously keeping on pace with overall real estate and legal timelines with little oversite from leadership.

• Frequent interaction with city planning departments to ensure understanding and adherence to code, real estate brokers and landlord contacts via phone and digital video conference tools to gather all information and documents relevant to project.

• Documenting existing and changing processes into department training guides as needed.

• Running reports in Lucernex and proactively identifying store locations weekly for follow-up with landlords to stay on timeline for lease signing target dates.

• Track/communicate project milestones to ensure all timelines are met and all internal and external partners are informed.

• Organize and file site documentation into Lucernex and department folders per department guidelines.

• Review architecture team scope of work requests for completeness, once scopes are ready assign projects and follow up accordingly.

• Input project documentation into Lucernex systems database.

• Work closely with Store Planning, Design & Architecture team with the objective of meeting or exceeding project schedules, budgets and quality standards.

• Participate in project and department meetings as needed.

• Provide exceptional customer service when working with internal and external partners.

• Overall team project support where needed.

• LEADERSHIP

• Lead, coach, and develop direct reports by providing clear direction, performance feedback, training, and growth opportunities.

• Establish team priorities, allocate workload, and monitor performance to ensure project objectives and departmental goals are achieved.

• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.

• Mentor team members in project management, design execution, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, proactively resolving conflicts and driving alignment to support successful store openings and business objectives.

You'll Come With

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a combination of Associate Architecture degree and drafting/design experience in an Architectural office preferred.

• 5-7 years of experience working on commercial architecture projects

• 2-3 years of experience managing a team

• Strong Architectural Visualization skillset required

• Software requirements: Photoshop, Sketchup, AUTOCAD, other rendering software

• Smartsheet experience

• Site visits and client meetings

• Strong skills with MS office, and Adobe Suites & Illustrator, Bluebeam, Smartsheet experience a plus

• Excellent communication skills

• Ability to be a team player as well as work independentlyPreparation of construction documents

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel, drive a vehicle, stand, walk, sit, lift as necessary.

• Travel is up to 10% to project sites or to corporate office.
