We’re seeking a Manager, Associate Relations to be a trusted partner to leaders and a key driver of how we navigate employee relations across the organization. You’ll lead complex investigations, coach managers through challenging situations, and help build the systems and practices that support a strong, accountable culture.
Location: Remote (U.S. only; preference for candidates in the DMV area, as proximity to our Vienna, VA office can be helpful for periodic in-person meetings, though candidates outside this area are encouraged to apply)
Salary range: $110 - $115k
Reports To: Vice President of People & Culture
Travel: Up to 10%

Key Responsibilities:
Associate Relations Strategy & Case Ownership
- Own end-to-end resolution of complex associate relations matters, including investigations, performance issues, and terminations
- Identify patterns across cases and proactively address root causes to reduce recurrence
- Serve as the primary ER advisor to Talent, HR Generalists, and the People Service Center
- Ensure seamless handoffs and clarity of ownership across the People function
Investigations & Compliance
- Lead thorough, impartial investigations into workplace concerns (e.g., harassment, discrimination, policy violations)
- Ensure documentation meets legal, regulatory, and audit standards, particularly in healthcare and multi-state environments
- Partner with Legal and Compliance on high-risk or escalated issues
Manager Enablement & Capability Building
- Equip frontline and mid-level leaders to effectively manage performance, conduct, and associate concerns
- Deliver practical coaching, tools, and training to improve decision-making and reduce ER escalations
- Reinforce accountability for consistent people management practices across the organization
Policy Governance & Process Discipline
- Interpret and enforce HR policies with consistency and clarity
- Drive process standardization across ER workflows to improve speed, quality, and scalability
- Continuously refine policies and practices to align with regulatory changes and organizational growth
Data, Insights & Risk Mitigation
- Track and analyze ER trends (case types, volume, outcomes, cycle time)
- Surface actionable insights to the VP, People & Culture and senior leaders
- Proactively recommend interventions that improve engagement, reduce turnover risk, and strengthen culture

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR) strongly preferred
- 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience with deep focus in associate/associate relations
- Proven experience managing complex investigations and advising leaders through high-risk decisions
- Experience supporting multi-state workforce with varying employment law requirements
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, long-term care, or similar) strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively without a traditional HRBP layer
- Track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving consistent outcomes in fast-paced or growth environments
Skills & Abilities:
- Investigations:Deep experience managing complex employee relations matters, including leading thorough, impartialinvestigationsand producing clear, defensible documentation
- Compliance:Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment laws and experience supporting a multi-state workforce, with the ability to apply legal and policy guidance in practice
- Judgment:Demonstratedability to assess risk, navigate ambiguity, and make well-reasoned decisions in high-stakes situations
- Influence:Proven ability to guide stakeholders at all levels, driving alignment and consistent outcomes without direct authority
- Coaching:Skilled in supporting managers through performance issues, sensitive employee situations, and conflict resolution with clarity and confidence
- Execution:Strong casemanagement skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and delivertimely, high-quality outcomes
- Analytics:Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze trends,identifyroot causes, and proactively recommend solutions to reduce risk
