Purpose of Position:

The focus of this position will be to lead and manage a group of Business Analysts, providing hands-on oversight and guidance. The individual in this role will engage directly with artifact or deliverable development to support BAs, as required.

Responsibilities will include a full range of business-analysis-related and leadership activities including leading requirements gathering, use case, and user story development, coordination with IT, status reporting, and coordinating with stakeholders and vendor personnel.

Will support continuous improvement of PMD processes and maintain clear communication and awareness across Business and IT Teams.

This manager must work effectively with an existing Business Analyst Group Manager as a peer.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and/or participate in multiple business analysis efforts by completing and maintaining requirements documentation; determining daily priorities; ensuring efficient and on-time delivery of tasks and meeting defined milestones; following proper escalation paths; managing stakeholder relationships; and applying business analysis best practices and methodologies.
  • Assist in the identification of people, processes, and business analysis-related methodologies required to move company initiatives forward.
  • Assist in the implementation of new business analysis-related processes and deliverables identified to support the successful execution of company initiatives.
  • Participate in team building and the pursuit of a culture of excellence within the department.
  • Provide direct supervision for staff, communicate clear expectations, provide training, constructive feedback and recognition when appropriate. Engage in career development discussions and ensure adequate training resources are available.
  • Ensure business requirements, use cases, and user stories are well defined and documented in alignment with business analysis best practices and methodology.
  • Analyze business analysis resource capacity, forecasting, planning and task management of the business analysis team members, and keep management apprised of resource challenges, bottlenecks, etc.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship on business analysis-related matters as required.
  • Manages, documents, and evaluates staff performance. Establish individual goals and development plans for direct reports in alignment with departmental goals through use of company tools for performance management; conduct performance reviews.
  • Assists management team in the hiring and the onboarding process, as required.
  • Drives positive outcomes through business-analysis-related planning, people management, and technical capabilities.
  • Fosters strong stakeholder relationships and collaborative partnerships across departments and teams.
  • Seeks to proactively identify process improvement and efficiency enhancement opportunities.
  • Enhance current job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organization meet ups, etc.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to meet project schedules, plans, and specifications, estimating time and resources, monitoring business analysis-related milestone completion, providing timely reporting of issues that impact project progress, coordinating business analysis actions and resolving conflicts.
  • On-site or remote regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
  • Perform other business tasks or functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Must have ability and ambition to partner with an existing Business Analysis group Manager, both driving coordinated, coherent outcomes.
  • Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Understanding of industry standard practices for business analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, collaborative team environment with attention to detail. Must exhibit confidence and knowledge of industry practices.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, and ability to generate enthusiasm among team members.
  • Strong documentation skills with capability to imbibe, assimilate and present information gathered in a clear, concise format tailored to the audience.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint)
  • Experience with Requirement Management Software preferred (e.g. JAMA, JIRA, Caliber)

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in business analysis.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience with 5 to 10 team members.
  • Minimum 5+ years as a Business Analyst.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent certifications, preferably in relevant management or technology areas, or analogous experience in related disciplines
  • Completion of Management training and/or other associated courses preferred
  • Health Care industry experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and occasionally stand and walk. Must have adequate hearing for phone work. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Must be able to use a keyboard and other office equipment. Ability to lift to 10 pounds occasionally.
