Role Summary:

The Manager Cargo Operations is responsible for executing the strategy for cargo operations at Horizon Air. As a people leader, this role leads and establishes priorities for the team achieving priorities, expectations, and goals while meeting program requirements and always ensuring safety and compliance. 

Key Duties:
  • Lead team and establish priorities of cargo operations, ensuring a strong focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. 
  • Execute strategy for cargo operations in alignment with annual goals, compliance requirements, program changes, and commodity volume variations. 
  • Make decisions related to warehouse operational priorities to ensure the successful flow of cargo through the facility. 
  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, monitoring performance across the team, and time management. 
  • Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors that promote high performance and accountability. 
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting the budget for cargo operations, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring financial goals are met. 
  • Conduct investigations and root cause analysis to identify operational errors, determine severity of issues, and implement guidelines to prevent recurrence. 
  • Oversee the department’s administrative personnel requirements, including scheduling, bidding, recruitment, time and attendance, performance conversations, training, and compliance. 
  • Foster strong ongoing communication and collaboration with Alaska cargo partners to ensure alignment and operational efficiency. 
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:

Required 

  • 5 years of experience in cargo operations, logistics, warehouse operations or a related aviation discipline. 
  • 2 years of leadership experience. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant experience in lieu of this degree.  
  • Strong knowledge of Airline Systems, the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA), the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) and the Department of Transportation’s policies, procedures, and regulations. 
  • Strong communication (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-divisionally and with external business partners.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). 
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.  
  • Minimum age of 18. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.  

Preferred 

  • Experience in a cargo leadership position with air carrier. 
  • Familiarization with an aviation SMS program. 
  • Understanding of dock operations for truck load/unload. 
  • Familiar with OSHA workplace requirements and forklift license certification programs. 
  • Experience with proprietary cargo software (iCargo preferred). 
  • Understanding of the aircraft manifest process, commodity restrictions and applicability to weight and balance.

Salary Range: $73,750 -- $110,650 / year Salary Details:

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
