Manager, Central Sterile , Los Angeles, California, (IK)

Position Summary

The Manager, Central Sterile provides 24/7 oversight and leadership of sterile processing operations, ensuring that all instruments, equipment, and medical devices are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained in compliance with AAMI, AORN, OSHA, FDA, and CDC standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct daily sterile processing operations to ensure timely support for all surgical and procedural areas.

• Oversee staff performance, technical training, and continuing education programs.

• Develop and implement departmental policies for infection control and quality assurance.

• Collaborate with Perioperative Services and Supply Chain leadership on equipment purchasing and workflow improvement.

• Provide data on quality performance measures to the Director of Perioperative Services.

• Serve as a liaison with surgeons, OR staff, and senior hospital leadership to optimize communication and process efficiency.

• Maintain a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Completion of an approved Central Service Technology course required.

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Strong background in instrumentation and surgical services (inpatient and outpatient).

• Familiarity with AAMI, AORN, OSHA, FDA, and CDC standards.

• Skilled in computer systems for database management and reporting.

• Experience in a unionized environment preferred.

• Current CST certification, AHA BLS, and LA County Fire Card (within 30 days of hire).
