E S S E N T I A L  F U N C T I O N S 

  • Performs electrical safety and performance testing according to current regulatory agencies and applicable policies and procedures.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and or quality assurance testing according to manufacturers’ and or Clinical Engineering Department procedures and checklists.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates general biomedical equipment, using available parts, test equipment, documentation, and assistance from the manufacturers or the other Clinical Engineering staff.
  • Provides supervision and guidance for the Biomedical Service Technician.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Engineering Department including budgeting, capital acquisitions, schedule, etc.
  • Coordinates with manufacturers on repair work and parts ordered for best economical outcome.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Is notified and reviews all medical equipment purchases. Enters into the proper maintenance schedule.

 

E D U C A T I O N

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Biomedical Electronics or equivalent preferred.

 

E X P E R I E N C E

  • Minimum of ten (10) years in a clinical/hospital setting including ten (10) years in imaging equipment repair required.

 

C R E D E N T I A L S 

  • CBET or ability attain within eighteen (18) months after hire required.
  • CRES certifications preferred.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license with the ability to drive for IMH.

 

K N O W L E D G E,  S K I L L S  A N D  A B I L I T I E S   

  • Ability to operate all general biomedical test equipment safely and apply the test equipment to general biomedical equipment in order to verify safety and calibration.
  • Ability to document test results using computerized methods.
  • As a primary role in Clinical Engineering, this position is expected to be proficient in six (6) out of eight (8) imaging devices and competent on the other two.
  • Expectation to be proficient in all general biomedical equipment as well as competent in specialty devices.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to: a friendly personality, tact, patience, empathy and a helpful, professional attitude both in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate effective listening skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
  • Possess exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision.
  • Ability to learn new computer software programs.
  • Ability to recognize and protect confidential information.
