We are hoping you will join us as a Manager Community Relations and help shape the future of healthcare where you'll be an integral part of our Community Relations team, helping to strive for excellence while we serve our member health with dignity, respecting the value and needs of each of our members through collaboration with our providers, community partners and local stakeholders. This position has been approved to be Partial Telework.
The Manager of Community Relations will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Community Relations department and supervise department staff. You will provide support to senior management and oversee staff for community programs, public events, and other special projects. You will build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships, cultivate support for public policy issues that impact CalOptima Health, advise senior management on community affairs and maintain a clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities to increase the organization's visibility in the community. You will maintain a flexible schedule and be able to participate in evening and weekend events. Together, we are building a stronger, more equitable health system.
Your Contributions To the Team:

Cultivates and promotes a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability.
Directs and assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with the leadership team and staff to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department.
Oversees the day-to-day operations in the department.
Hires, manages, trains, reviews and sets goals for the department and staff.
Builds and maintains positive stakeholder relationships and cultivates support for public policy issues that impact CalOptima Health.
Supports the Community Relations Director with key initiatives/events and special projects assigned to the Community Relations department.
Ensures key messages are clearly communicated to external stakeholders with the goal of enhancing and preserving CalOptima Health's image and reputation.
Advises senior management on community affairs, opportunities to enhance CalOptima Health's community engagement efforts and health care issues impacting the organization and /or CalOptima Health members.
Serves as primary manager for CalOptima Health's signature community events and outreach activities.
Manages the coordination of staffing for events, workshops, and other activities at CalOptima Health's satellite office(s) and additional locations.
45% - Program Oversight
Assists in the development and implementation of community relation plans in connection with CalOptima Health's strategic goals and Community Relations department workplans.
Develops and maintains a clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities to increase CalOptima Health's visibility in the community.
Enhances and supports the process for sponsoring community events, endorsements and use of CalOptima Health's name and/or logo.
Participates on assigned advisory committees, community collaboratives and task forces to develop and maintain community partnerships designed to enhance health care access and/or services, increase membership growth and/or retention.
5% - Other
Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Do You Have What the Role Requires?
Bachelor's degree in public relations, health and human service, public health or related field PLUS 5 years of experience with program development and implementation, not limited to project management, in a health care agency or community-based organization required; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above may also be qualifying.
2 years of experience in a supervisory or lead role required.
Have access to means of transportation for work away from the primary office approximately 20% of the time.
You'll Stand Out More If You Possess the Following:
Master's degree.
Experience in HMO, Medi-Cal, Medicare and health services.
Bilingual in English and in one of CalOptima Health''s defined threshold languages (Arabic, Farsi, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese).

Our current hiring range is: Pay Grade: 314 - $99,902 - $159,843 ($48.03 - $76.8476).
The final salary offered will be based on education, job-related knowledge and experience, skills relevant to the role and internal equity among other factors.
This position is approved for Partial Telework (If the position is Telework, it is eligible in California only)
