PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As Manager Customs & Transportation, youll be at the forefront of optimizing our domestic and international logistics operations-ensuring seamless material flow and asset availability across borders. Youll drive cost-effective, high-quality solutions in partnership with business leaders while managing vendor contracts, budgets, and a talented team. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead and manage North American Trade Compliance for imports and exports, ensuring alignment with corporate policies.
  • Oversee transportation and logistics operations, vendor performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement trade compliance procedures, training, and manuals.
  • Ensure accurate customs data, HTS, COO, ECCN, valuation, and Incoterms across the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, tax, legal, IT, procurement, and external partners to ensure compliant cross-border operations.
  • Manage customs brokers and logistics providers, supporting timely, compliant deliveries.
  • Identify scalable solutions to improve compliance, reduce costs, and streamline operations.
  • Guide day-to-day trade compliance matters, including audits, duty programs, and government agency requirements.
  • Lead sourcing strategies and contract negotiations for customs and transportation services.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Commerce, or a related field with a strong quantitative focus.
  • U.S. Licensed Customs Broker or equivalent international certification, education, and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in corporate trade compliance with demonstrated knowledge of import/export regulations and global trade practices.
  • This role requires demonstrated leadership capabilities and a clear aspiration to move into a people-leadership role in the future.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
