Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

EHS Leadership & Governance: Establish and maintain enterprise-wide EHS policies, standards, and governance frameworks.

  • Ensure consistent implementation of EHS programs across all operating regions, construction activities, and corporate functions.
  • Provide strategic EHS guidance on accident prevention and risk reduction measures, including risk assessments, pertaining to building preventive maintenance and repair, construction, and office work.
  • Develop strategic EHS objectives, KPIs, and reporting metrics for executive leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve organizational safety performance and reduce operational risk.
  • Represent EHS interests in executive meetings, acquisitions, due diligence efforts, and major organizational initiatives.
  • Integrate contractors and operating partners into company activities.
  • Interface and meet reporting requirements with U.S. Government and contractor Safety personnel as required.
  • Interpret and maintain adherence to federal, state, and local EHS laws to avoid fines and legal penalties.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of compliance reports.

Audit and Inspection: Oversee and maintain company-wide EHS-related audit, inspection, and monitoring programs.

  • Develop company-wide audit strategies and direct inspection and monitoring activities
  • Perform and/or coordinate periodic inspections and audits to include tools and equipment, mission-related gear and devices, and uniforms/PPE.
  • Keep abreast of EHS trends, industry technology, and make recommendations to management.
  • Lead efforts for company-wide equipment procurement and fielding.
  • Ensure significant compliance issues are reported to leadership.

People Leadership & Talent Management: Lead, develop, and manage EHS team by establishing performance expectations, building organizational capability, and ensuring effective deployment of EHS resources across the company.

  • Create departmental goals and performance expectations.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Manage employee development plans.
  • Allocate resources across regions, including workload and priorities.
  • Plan, resource, and lead Company-level Safety Meetings (Safety Council, etc.)
  • Advise, mentor, and coordinate with Safety Committees and other decentralized Safety governance structures throughout the company.
  • Ensure effective distribution of Safety personnel across the company.

Emergency Action Plans/COOP: Oversee corporate-wide planning, coordination, and staff efforts to enable business and operations continuity and train employees on emergency preparedness and response procedures.

  • Maintain enterprise emergency preparedness programs.
  • Coordinate business continuity plan exercises/drills.
  • Provide expertise and support to management and business functional areas, as needed, and lead expert when a major business disruption or EHS crisis occurs.

General Support: Work across the company and with partners on cross-functional teams regarding program-related opportunities and challenges.

  • Participate in due diligence activities as part of the acquisition process, procedures, and activities.
  • Establish and oversee equipment inspection program(s) for building technicians and other company personnel.
  • Assist managers with timely and accurate claims reporting and incident investigation.
  • Coordinate with and support corporate management, Risk Analyst, and outside counsel on insurance-related dispute resolution matters, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Formal education in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Sciences, Safety and Engineering Technology, Safety and Environmental Management, Health and Safety Studies, Business Administration or other relevant discipline.

Further Training:

  • Industry Certifications including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional, Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), Construction Health Safety (CHST), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in construction, building engineering, real estate development, manufacturing, or related industry.

Computer Skills:

  • PC proficiency to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and ability to learn company-specific software.

  • Ability to adapt to new or changing software programs

Mobility:

  • Occasional travel required.

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated expertise in planning, managing, and overseeing company-wide, EHS-related programs.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), National Electrical (NEC), and Building Codes.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • May be required to carry and maintain appropriate government credentials.

  • Must be willing to obtain a TS clearance.

Pay Range: $130,000 - 140,000
