JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs across Elevate Aircraft Seating’s manufacturing, engineering, certification testing, warehouse, and office operations. This role serves as the EHS subject matter expert, ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening risk management, and supporting alignment with applicable Boeing safety and environmental standards while leading and developing the EHS team across multiple facilities. The Manager partners cross-functionally to build scalable processes, promote a proactive safety culture, and drive continuous improvement as the organization continues to grow and mature.

EHS Leadership & Program Management
- Lead the company's EHS function and provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, development, and prioritization for EHS team members across multiple facilities.
- Direct and develop EHS Specialists across multiple facilities, ensuring effective execution of compliance programs, risk-reduction initiatives, incident investigations, and continuous improvement activities.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the company's EHS Management System, policies, procedures, standards, and programs.
- Foster a proactive safety culture by partnering with employees, managers, and senior leadership to strengthen accountability, employee engagement, and ownership of workplace safety.
- Evaluate existing EHS processes, identify program and compliance gaps, and develop scalable solutions appropriate for a growing aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Boeing safety and environmental standards and support continued alignment and integration of Elevate EHS programs with Boeing requirements.
- Lead Safety Committee activities, establish priorities, and ensure identified actions and corrective measures are completed and sustained.
- Evaluate EHS technology and management-system solutions and support the implementation and optimization of systems used for incident management, corrective actions, compliance, training, and reporting.
Regulatory & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including OSHA/Cal/OSHA, EPA/CalEPA, DTSC, South Coast AQMD, SWRCB, Hazardous Communications (Haz Com), DOT hazardous materials requirements, applicable Fire Codes, and California Proposition 65.
- Serve as a primary EHS interface with regulatory agencies and coordinate responses to regulatory inspections, audits, inquiries, and required corrective actions.
- Manage environmental permits, applications, renewals, reporting requirements, and associated compliance records.
- Oversee hazardous waste generation, accumulation, storage, transportation, disposal, and documentation requirements.
- Manage applicable air emissions, wastewater, and stormwater compliance programs, including required plans, monitoring, inspections, and reporting.
- Manage hazardous waste generation, accumulation, storage, transportation, disposal, and associated documentation to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Maintain chemical and environmental records and support sustainability, pollution prevention, waste reduction, and other environmental improvement initiatives.
- Conduct periodic facility and program compliance audits and ensure findings and corrective actions are appropriately prioritized, tracked, and closed.
Operational Safety, Risk & Industrial Hygiene
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Certification, Facilities, Warehouse, and other functions to identify and mitigate EHS risks associated with operations, equipment, processes, and facility changes.
- Conduct and facilitate Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, facility inspections, and other hazard-identification activities.
- Evaluate new or modified equipment, processes, facility layouts, construction activities, and expansion projects for EHS risks and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain appropriate controls and safety requirements for manufacturing equipment, forklifts, cranes, elevated work platforms, certification testing, and other operational activities.
- Manage industrial hygiene programs and coordinate exposure monitoring for noise, welding fumes, solvents, chemicals, airborne particulates, and other occupational exposures.
- Evaluate industrial hygiene findings and partner with operational teams to establish appropriate engineering, administrative, and personal protective equipment controls.
- Establish and maintain PPE requirements based on applicable regulatory requirements and workplace risk assessments.
Incident Management, Emergency Preparedness & Training
- Lead or oversee workplace incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action development, and verification of corrective-action effectiveness.
- Analyze injury, incident, near-miss, and safety observation trends to identify systemic risks and opportunities for preventative action.
- Partner with Human Resources on occupational injury processes, OSHA recordkeeping and reporting, and other activities requiring employee or medical information while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and functional ownership.
- Maintain Emergency Action Plans and coordinate emergency preparedness activities, evacuation drills, emergency exercises, and response procedures.
- Oversee applicable fire extinguisher, AED, eyewash, emergency equipment, spill prevention, and emergency response programs.
- Serve as an EHS liaison during site emergencies and support coordination with internal and external emergency-response resources.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver required EHS training and maintain appropriate training compliance and documentation.
- Establish contractor safety expectations and support contractor qualification, orientation, and compliance oversight.
Performance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Establish, monitor, analyze, and communicate EHS KPIs and use performance data to identify risks, trends, priorities, and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare and present EHS performance, regulatory status, risks, and improvement initiatives to senior and executive leadership.
- Develop and manage the EHS budget and prioritize resources based on business needs, regulatory requirements, and organizational risk.
- Prepare required monthly, quarterly, annual, and regulatory EHS reports.
- Track measures such as TRIR, LTIR, near-miss and safety observation participation, corrective-action closure, regulatory findings, environmental permit compliance, hazardous waste reduction, training compliance, and other relevant indicators.
- Partner cross-functionally to develop sustainable corrective and preventive actions rather than relying solely on EHS to execute safety activities.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and significant directly related EHS experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership, supervisory, or people-management experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and improving EHS programs and processes, including experience building solutions where established programs or procedures may not already exist.
- Experience managing OSHA/Cal/OSHA and environmental compliance programs.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, audits, and corrective-action management.
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations and partnering cross-functionally with operational and technical leaders.
- Aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, hazardous waste management, permitting, and regulatory reporting.
- Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, hazard identification, risk assessment, and appropriate engineering, administrative, and PPE controls.
- Demonstrated ability to lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to delegate, coach, develop, and establish accountability across an EHS team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate regulatory requirements and operational risks into practical, scalable solutions.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to effectively partner with employees, cross-functional leaders, regulatory agencies, and executive leadership.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- CSP, CIH, and/or CHMM certification.
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or other highly regulated manufacturing operations.
- Experience implementing or optimizing EHS management systems and supporting organizational growth, facility expansion, or significant operational change.
