JOB DESCRIPTION The Manager - Epic IT Services Delivery & Interoperability is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and
oversight of Epic interoperability platforms and IT service development initiatives across the organization. This
role ensures that Epic interoperability tools (e.g., Bridges, Care Everywhere, HL7/FHIR interfaces) and IT
developed services are designed, implemented, and optimized to support secure, scalable, and efficient data
exchange aligned with organizational priorities and Epic best practices. This Manager leads interoperability and
IT services development teams and serves as a key liaison between clinical, operational, analytics, and technical
stakeholders. The role bridges system connectivity and enterprise data strategy by translating business and
technical requirements into integration and service development design, build, testing, and support strategies to
ensure seamless data flow and high system reliability.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provides leadership and operational oversight for Epic interoperability and IT services development functions. Establishes and maintains standards for both integration architecture and internally developed IT services. Ensures solutions align with enterprise architecture, scalability requirements, and long-term digital strategy. Maintains accountability for system performance, service reliability, and secure data exchange.
- Oversees the design, development, and deployment of custom IT services, APIs, automations, and integration solutions supporting Epic and enterprise systems. Leads development efforts for reusable services and middleware that enhance interoperability and reduce redundant point-to-point integrations. Ensures adherence to modern development practices including version control, CI/CD pipelines, code quality standards, and documentation. Partners with architecture and infrastructure teams to ensure services are scalable, secure, and maintainable. Drive innovation through automation, service orchestration, and emerging interoperability technologies.
- Directly manages interoperability analysts, developers, interface engineers, and technical resources. Oversees staffing, onboarding, performance management, and professional development. Builds and maintains a high performing team with skills across Epic interoperability, API development, and service engineering. Ensures team members maintain Epic certifications and relevant technical expertise.
- Oversees the design, configuration, and development of interfaces and IT services to meet evolving business, clinical, and analytics needs. Translates stakeholder requirements into scalable integration and service solutions. Continuously optimizes system connectivity, service performance, and data quality. Promotes use of standardized services and APIs to reduce technical debt and complexity.
- Manages changes across interoperability and IT-developed services through governance and change control processes. Oversees testing, validation, and deployment of new integrations, enhancements, and internally developed solutions. Ensures proper documentation, testing protocols, and release management practices.
- Enables enterprise data strategy by delivering reliable, scalable data integration and service solutions for Cogito and analytics teams. Collaborates with BI, data governance, and analytics teams on data pipelines and service-based data access. Ensures rapid identification and resolution of integration and service-related issues.
- Participates in IT governance, interoperability, and development standards councils. Ensures compliance with regulatory and security requirements (e.g., HIPAA, interoperability mandates, secure API practices). Enforces secure coding standards and data protection practices within IT service development. Identifies and mitigates risks related to data integrity, system security, and service performance.
- Collaborates with Epic application teams, IT engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and analytics teams. Partners with external vendors and organizations to support data exchange and integration initiatives. Serves as an escalation point for complex interoperability and IT service issues.
- Maintains responsibility for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Manages team members, which includes orientation, development and evaluation of team members, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing, and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws.
