    Qualifications and Detail about the Position

    Broad Function

    The Estimating Manager is responsible for overseeing the estimating process and directing the daily activities of the department estimators. This position has final input and approval over assigned bids and proposals to ensure they meet project specifications and budget. The Estimating Manager is accountable for bid compliance with Brock's Legal, Risk Management, and HSEQ policies.

    Essential Functions

    • Promote, demonstrate, and instill Brock's Bsafe and Bbest culture in all aspects of the business
    • Oversee and direct activities of estimating team
    • Train, coach and develop employees to improve quality, performance, and productivity
    • Implement estimating standards and processes ensuring compliance with Legal, Risk Management, and HSEQ policies
    • Review and approve estimates before submittal, ensuring accuracy, conformity to functional process and industry standards
    • Handle escalated questions or issues related to estimates by internal and external customers
    • Meet regularly with regional management and estimating team to improve performance and align with operations requirements
    • Partner with Project Controls to utilize project performance data to develop accurate and competitive bids
    • Collaborate with Sales to ensure customer deliverables are met to standards
    • Work with customers for clarification, follow up, requests and general business development
    • Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
    • Ensure bid data is provided to Operations and Project Controls prior to contract execution
    • Assure attendance at job walks and pre-bid meetings as required
    • Identify and address RFIs and potential changes of scope based upon RFQ data provided by customers
    • Identify alternatives to specifications and installation processes and present as value added proposition where applicable
    • Contribute to the identification of potential risks, opportunities, and alternative solutions
    • Utilize industry experience, available project controls data to develop accurate productivity factors, establish standard hour and related cost data, and create cost reductions
    • Manage centralized cost estimating database and formalize processes and procedures
    • Propose cost estimating procedure improvements to sales management to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs
    • Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts
    • Prepare and present overall estimated costs and margins to executive management

    Working Conditions

    • Working conditions include outdoor and indoor fields, yards and shop locations.
    • Working indoors in an office environment
    • Utilization of Personal Protective Equipment is necessary.
    • Frequent travel as required

    Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to effectively manage team, delegate work, hold employees accountable, give feedback and coach performance
    • Highly organized with strong analytical skills
    • Ability to solve complex problems mitigating risk
    • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
    • Strong understanding of operational impact on profitability
    • Ability to make informed and timely decisions
    • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal customers and external vendors and customers
    • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively and meet deadlines
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Proficient in estimating and scheduling systems (MIKE, 3E, P6, etc.)

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree, preferred
    • 7+ years in estimating with progressive responsibility
    • Craft knowledge in scaffolding, insulation, fireproofing and painting and blasting, preferred
    • Strong knowledge of construction processes and scope of work
    • Knowledge of changing industry standards and latest technologies
