Lead the operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of facility engineering systems to support a safe, efficient, and reliable healthcare environment. The Manager of Facilities Engineering & Maintenance oversees daily operations for building maintenance, utilities, preventive maintenance programs, regulatory compliance, and facility projects while leading a skilled team of technicians and support staff. This role collaborates closely with leadership, clinical departments, and vendors to ensure optimal facility performance, minimize downtime, and maintain compliance with safety and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations of facilities engineering and maintenance services
Oversee preventive maintenance and repair of building systems, utilities, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment
Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards
Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance and engineering staff
Coordinate capital projects, vendor services, and contracted work
Monitor department budgets, inventory, and operational efficiencies
Respond to facility emergencies and implement corrective actions
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and patient/customer experience
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
Leadership experience in facilities engineering, plant operations, or maintenance management
Strong knowledge of building systems, safety regulations, and preventive maintenance programs
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Experience in healthcare, commercial, or industrial facility operations preferred

Purpose:
To administer and direct Facilities Engineering and Maintenance (FEM of buildings, grounds, and equipment. To procure and generate all utilities and their distribution systems coordinating these activities with other departments to ensure safe and efficient operation. This position typically reports to the Director or Sr. Manager of Facilities, Engineering & Maintenance
Responsibilities:
Requirements: Ability to read blueprints and specifications and to visualize installation. Ability to analyze, organize, and delegate work assignments. Ability to assume overall responsibility for engineering and maintenance of hospital utility services, buildings, and grounds. Ability to receive, comprehend, and conduct instructions; ability to work safely with equipment supplies, and materials; ability to comply with attendance requirements; ability to comply with Personnel policies. Must have a valid driver's license. Education Required: Associate's degree preferably in Engineering, Business Administration, Architecture, or related field or Associate's degree in a building trade or completion of an accredited Apprentice Program. Also requires 5 years' experience in maintenance or trade field and 1 year management experience or 1 year of experience as a maintenance/trade Lead OR High School diploma or equivalent and 7 years' experience in maintenance or trade field. Also requires 2 years management experience or 2 years of experience as a maintenance/trade lead. Military experience may be considered for requirement components as applicable.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Driver's License ASHE CHFM certifications or similar is preferred
