Finance Manager
Job Type: Temporary (21-Week Assignment)
Pay Rate: $50-54/hour
Location: Suffern, NY | On-site (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm)

Job Overview
Madison Approach Staffing is recruiting for a Finance Manager to support our client's Finance department. Our client is a large healthcare system seeking an experienced finance professional to assist with financial reporting and budgeting across multiple facilities including hospitals, nursing homes, and physician offices. This role works at the Finance Manager level, leading budget preparation, consolidation, and financial reporting while partnering with leadership across the system. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of fiscal operations and budget management experience, advanced Excel and financial analysis skills, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting complex, multi-entity healthcare financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
Budget Development & Management:
  • Lead preparation and consolidation of annual budget across multiple facilities and entities
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate budget policies and procedures
  • Work with executive leadership on overall budget process
  • Assist with uniform FTE reporting structure for financial reporting and budgeting
  • Assist with financial planning for future projects and long-range budgets
Financial Reporting:
  • Assist with preparation and consolidation of monthly and annual financial reporting
  • Prepare financial reporting for various projects including surveys, grant applications, and regulatory agencies
  • Provide reporting tools for leadership including variance analysis, KPI reporting, and statistical analysis
  • Assist with monthly and annual financial reporting to Leadership, Finance Committee, and Board
  • Prepare balance sheet, income statement, and cash forecasting models
  • Ensure compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB)
Audit & Compliance Support:
  • Assist with internal and external auditors
  • Support financial management of grant activity including OMB audits
  • Assist with pension plan audit(s)
  • Assist with preparation of annual tax returns
  • Review actuarial reports for self-insured malpractice, workers' compensation, and post-retirement benefits
Systems & Process Improvement:
  • Assist with upgrades and implementation of new technology and systems within Finance Department and across System
  • Identify opportunities and solutions to improve financial reporting and budgeting
  • Drive process improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • Experience: 8+ years in fiscal operations and/or budget management; healthcare experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel: Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas, and data analysis (required)
  • Financial Reporting: Thorough knowledge of financial reporting and budgeting including GASB compliance
  • Computer Applications: Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
  • Analytics: Strong analytical skills with ability to perform variance analysis, KPI reporting, and statistical analysis
  • Independence: Ability to take initiative, work effectively with minimal supervision, and focus on achieving objectives independently
  • Leadership: Ability to organize and direct the work of others
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of healthcare professionals; clear oral and written communication
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to find solutions, overcome obstacles, and identify improvement opportunities
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Power BI: Advanced data visualization and analytics capability
  • Think-Cell PowerPoint: Specialized PowerPoint software for financial presentations
  • Healthcare Systems: Experience with Infor, Lawson, Kronos, Cerner EMR, Patient Accounting, or Strata
  • CPA Certification: Certified Public Accountant
  • Multi-facility Experience: Experience managing financial reporting and budgeting across multiple locations
  • Grant Management: Experience with grant accounting and regulatory reporting
  • Healthcare Finance: Deep understanding of healthcare financial reporting and operations
