Manager, Fund Accounting - Private Equity Firm
$135K-$160K Base + 20% Bonus | Providence, RI | Hybrid, Tues-Thurs In Office
A leading middle-market private equity firm is seeking a Manager, Fund Accounting to join its finance organization in Providence, RI. This role will support core fund accounting, financial reporting, audit oversight, investor reporting, and operational finance across multiple private equity investment vehicles.
This is a strong opportunity for someone coming directly out of the Big 4 with private equity clients, or someone with a public/private mix, who wants to step into a high-visibility fund accounting role with exposure to complex fund structures, carried interest, waterfalls, capital calls, distributions, credit facilities, and investor reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting across multiple private equity fund structures
Manage third-party administrators and review quarterly and annual financial statement packages
Review complex accounting matters, including carried interest, waterfall calculations, management fees, fund expenses, and investor allocations
Lead year-end audit coordination and serve as a key liaison with external auditors
Oversee capital calls, distributions, credit facilities, drawdowns, repayments, covenant compliance, and cash management
Partner with internal teams on investor reporting, ad hoc financial inquiries, regulatory filings, and fund-related deliverables
Interpret Limited Partnership Agreements and side letters to ensure reporting, allocations, NAV calculations, and distributions align with governing documents
Qualifications:
5-7 years of progressive private equity fund accounting and/or Big 4 experience with significant private equity exposure
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred
Big 4 experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, private equity fund structures, financial reporting, and fund operations
Experience with capital calls, distributions, waterfalls, carried interest, management fees, fund expenses, and investor reporting
Experience managing or developing team members preferred
Advanced Excel skills; Investran and Workday experience preferred
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with senior leadership, auditors, administrators, and investors
