Manager, Fund Accounting | Providence, RI
A highly established private equity investment firm is seeking a Manager, Fund Accounting to join its growing finance organization. This is a key role with significant ownership across fund accounting, financial reporting, controls, and operational processes for a complex portfolio of investment vehicles.
The Manager will work closely with senior finance leadership, external administrators, auditors, investors, and internal stakeholders while overseeing a broad range of fund accounting responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting across multiple private equity fund structures
Manage third-party fund administrators and review financial statement packages
Review complex accounting matters, including carried interest and waterfall calculations
Lead the year-end audit process and serve as a primary point of contact with external auditors
Oversee capital calls, distributions, investor allocations, and notices
Manage credit facilities, including drawdowns, repayments, and covenant compliance
Review management fees, fund expenses, and related allocations
Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and banking activity
Partner with internal teams on investor reporting and ad hoc financial analysis
Coordinate regulatory reporting across international fund structures
Interpret LPAs and side letters to ensure accounting, allocations, and distributions are properly executed
Identify opportunities to improve processes and support broader finance initiatives
Manage and develop members of the fund accounting team
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5–7+ years of progressive experience in private equity fund accounting and/or Big 4 with significant private equity exposure
CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and private equity fund structures
Experience with complex fund structures, carried interest, waterfalls, and NAV calculations
Prior team management/development experience
Advanced Excel skills; Investran and Workday experience preferred
Strong communication skills and ability to work with senior leadership, auditors, administrators, and investors
Strong analytical and technical accounting capabilities
Comfortable interpreting complex legal documents and applying accounting guidance
Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
