Join Our Payer Strategy Contracting Division

Our PSC Division guides clients through payer strategy development, reimbursement analysis and design, contract negotiations, and other strategic and operational issues affecting commercial and government revenue streams. As part of our team, you’ll help our clients optimize their managed care contract portfolios and develop successful value-based reimbursement strategies.

 

PSC engagements include work with inpatient, outpatient, professional, behavioral health, post-acute, and ancillary providers, as well as payers. We assist clients primarily in the three areas below.

 

Contracting and Reimbursement

Our Contracting and Reimbursement practice is an industry leader in healthcare payment reform and accountable care strategies for large, complex healthcare organizations, including major health systems and provider-owned health plans. We help our clients:

  • Develop innovative payment approaches.
  • Negotiate contracts.
  • Devise reimbursement strategies.
  • Improve revenues.

 

Value- and Risk-Based Payment Programs

We offer our clients comprehensive value- and risk-based payment program development services, including planning, implementing, and optimizing value-enhancing care models. Common projects include:

  • Value-based readiness assessments and payment design.
  • Care model and reimbursement strategy.
  • Medicare Shared Savings Program, Accountable Care Organization (ACO) REACH, or commercial ACO development.
  • Clinically integrated or regional affiliate network development.
  • Assistance with Medicaid managed care program participation.
  • Patient-centered medical home transformation.
  • Population health service organization establishment.
  • Support for participation in grant-funded or governmental programs.

 

Payer Services

Our Payer Services practice advises traditional and provider-owned insurance companies in areas such as:

Your Opportunity with ECG: Manager

Managers at ECG play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality consulting work while leading teams, shaping client deliverables, and contributing to the firm’s culture. They are responsible for managing day-to-day project activities, advancing work streams, developing staff, and ensuring deliverables meet ECG’s quality standards. Managers also support strategic initiatives, business development efforts, and operational excellence across the firm.

 

The role requires a blend of analytical acumen, structured problem-solving, strong communication, and leadership capabilities.

 

Your Responsibilities May Include

Project Delivery and Client Service

  • Lead high-complexity work streams and ensure deliverables are accurate, insightful, and aligned with client goals.
  • Apply project management principles to schedule, coordinate, and monitor work streams, including budgets, team performance, and project dependencies.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses and synthesize findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Translate data into meaningful insights and clear visualizations that support client understanding.
  • Identify and define complex problems; analyze underlying issues and develop feasible, reasoned solutions.
  • Present components of deliverables to clients, respond to questions on assigned content, and coordinate follow-up communications.
  • Adapt methodologies to fit specific client needs and identify risks requiring escalation.

Team Leadership and People Development

  • Provide timely, actionable feedback to team members; model professionalism, tact, empathy, and inclusivity.
  • Manage effective working relationships, even in challenging situations, and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Help team members understand how their goals align with project and organizational objectives.
  • Demonstrate situational awareness and adapt leadership style to optimize performance.
  • Mentor junior consultants, share knowledge generously, and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Begin taking responsibility for overall team contributions to project success.

Communication

  • Articulate desired outcomes and guide team members in developing written and verbal communications.
  • Support staff in tailoring communication to specific audiences for greater impact.
  • Lead selected portions of presentations and facilitate discussions by drawing in new perspectives and clarifying key points.
  • Ensure follow-up communications, clarifications, and client touch points are completed effectively.

Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving

  • Formulate strategic objectives and priorities across multiple projects.
  • Identify opportunities to advance organizational goals.
  • Adapt standard methods to meet the needs of each project.
  • Identify project risks and contingencies, escalating when needed.
  • Develop new insights and solutions for common project challenges.

Business Development and Firm Contribution

  • Identify and research potential market opportunities.
  • Engage in outreach and relationship-building activities as a representative of ECG.
  • Participate in creating marketing materials, pitch decks, and proposals. Contribute to business-winning activities.
  • Support operational improvements, practice development, and initiatives that strengthen the firm’s competitive position.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration required.
  • 6+ years of experience in health plan consulting, payer strategy, or health plan finances and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare payer landscape, including Medicare Advantage, Medicaid managed care, and commercial insurance.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience analyzing healthcare data, including claims, pricing, enrollment, cost, and utilization datasets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency in developing client-ready deliverables, including PowerPoint presentations, Excel models, reports, and memos.
  • Comfortable working with senior executives and facilitating strategic discussions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to mentoring junior team members and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed

  • Hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of two days per week in office when not traveling for a client engagement

: The estimated base salary range for this job is $150000.00 - $188000.00 annually. It represents a good faith estimate of the range that ECG reasonably expects to pay at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to years of experience, special skills, and market changes. This job is eligible to participate in ECG’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects ECG’s pay-for-performance philosophy. The job is also eligible to participate in ECG’s benefit plans, which include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) matching program, unlimited PTO, and other wellness programs. :
