POSITION TITLE: MANAGER IN TRAINING
DEPARTMENT: EXPRESS LANE / PITT STOP CONVENIENCE STORES SC
REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER
FLSA: NON-EXEMPT / HOURLY
The manager in training (MIT) position is designed to prepare an individual for a future management role by providing broad exposure to company operations, departments, and leadership skills through rotational work, hands-on experience, and formal instruction. Responsibilities often include assisting with daily operations, analyzing reports, contributing to hiring and training, and developing interpersonal and leadership abilities under the guidance of experienced managers. The goal is to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to eventually lead a team or department within the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Organizes and oversees the work and schedules
- Ensures monies are deposited regularly, and reports are submitted as prescribed by company policies.
- Ensures store standards are consistently improved in terms of housekeeping, merchandising, presentation and service.
- Hold regular communication meetings with General Manager and staff to ensure all plans are carried out.
- Addresses customer needs and resolves issues, ensuring positive and long-term customer relationships.
- Ensures inventory data is correct by performing spot inventory counts and checks.
- Ensures that the store always looks clean and inviting.
- Supports the General Manager to achieve Gross Profit Margin, Net Margin and Sales Targets.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills with ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent customer service abilities and positive attitude.
- Flexible and open schedule.
Education and Experience:
- Customer service experience required
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds at times
